...and the world implodes

No more of that argument !!!

"But that's impossible!!! 10.4.10 = 10.4.1!!!!! Is this a downgrade?! F-you Apple! Your OS is moving backwards because you're spending too much time on the iPhone! Apple has abandoned OS X!!!!1!!!1!1!"

That one??

hehe. I kinda miss it.

Can't install...

This doesn't install on my Core Duo MacBook for some reason. Software Update told me to try installing from the Installer package that had been moved to Trash. Didn't work. I restarted the machine and repaired permissions with Disk utility. Still nothing.:(

The update went okay here. It was a 49.0 MB download on a CD Mac Mini.
Took two long restarts. OS X and Safari 3 Beta seem to be much snappier than before.

10.4.9 messed up (in my opinion) my sound on my iMac by making it 10x louder than it was. Some people viewed this as a good thing. I didn't. My computer went from mute to too loud with just one blip.

Did 10.4.10 affect sound in anyway as far as anyone can tell?

GUYS

just found something interesting...

in 10.4.10 a few new Displays has been added under
/System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-610

More specifically 14 of them, where 4 are really interesting:

And these 4 are:
DisplayProductID-9c6a
DisplayProductID-9c6b
DisplayProductID-9c6c
DisplayProductID-9c71

which all are for iMacs, excerpts from the files:

9c6a:

<key>DisplayProductID</key>
<integer>40042</integer>
<key>DisplayProductName</key>
<string>iMac</string>

9c6b:

<key>DisplayProductID</key>
<integer>40043</integer>
<key>DisplayProductName</key>
<string>iMac</string>

9c6c:
<key>DisplayProductID</key>
<integer>40044</integer>
<key>DisplayProductName</key>
<string>iMac</string>

and lastly 9c71:

<key>DisplayProductID</key>
<integer>40049</integer>
<key>DisplayProductName</key>
<string>iMac</string>

These files/displaydefinitions are NOT present on a 10.4.9 system! :D

how long?

What does it take to put out an update where you don't have to EJECT thumb drives before removing them, without an error popping up telling that you removed it improperly??

It still looks the same. :(

I had that problem once. Follow those instructions:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25552

EDIT: Sorry, the cache file has been moved in Panther and Tiger:
Delete this file
users/username/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
You can't spotlight it so you have to go there on the Finder.

After deleting this file, your System Preferences will take a while to load because it's rebuilding the cache.

You think the OS can just magically assume you no longer want a file-system mounted?
