I can't wait!

I can't wait to get the new MBP! I would buy it now, but I rather wait for the update! I hope its launched early summer! I have an external monitor ready for it aswell!

New santa rosa on MBP ?

hi everybody?
I was just reading the forum , and was wondering about two things.
the first , is there any date for the new santa rosa on macs?
the second , what will be the new graphic card on the MBP ?

The matter is that i'm waiting for this update to order my MBP!!

By the way , will the RAm stay at 667mhz?
thx!

^ question #1: no date for the macs
question #2: I'm still too much of a n00b to answer...

After just reading and reading for the past few months it just doesn't make much sense for Apple to delay putting this technology to use just because of Leopard. That's basically screwing over everyone who will be buying their new macs over the summer for school that are planning on getting Leopard whenever it does come out. Buy yesterdays technology for tomorrows OS. That just doesn't make much sense to me as were PCs were slapping stickers on everything before Vista came out "Vista Ready PC"

yep

Well that's seems logical....But we'll have to wait and see....
Men , i just can't wait !!!
I'm dreaming about my MBP !!
humm ,but i don't know if apple will say something about the upgrates!

I've never heard of apple telling about their updates. The only time was :apple: TV. So don't expect that - you'll only get disappointed...

But there will be updates - during this summer. I think this is the "silence before the storm". I hope/believe apple is going to release some quite interesting stuff - like the iPhone. New iMacs with improved design. MB/MBP will probably remain pretty much the same - a laptop is a laptop - hopefully even slimmer than today though.

I'm waiting for new iMac 24" and I'm amazed how silent the rumor mill is. the only thing "out there" is desperate consumers wildly speculating - like myself ;)

It is possible for RAM to stay at 667 MHz. I haven't seen any Santa Rosa laptops that are out right now use DDR2-800 yet.

The only "Santa Rosa" laptop/notebook I've seen providing (nearly complete) specs and a "build" option (currently) online is this one by Pioneer Computers Australia. But yes, this particular Santa Rosa notebook's RAM speed is listed as being 533/677 MHz.

I am also the one that posted that little bit of news. That is where I am basing my interpretation that 667 MHz DDR2 will more then likely still be the viable standard.

Didn't find/see your posting. However the company issued a press release about this notebook a few days ago, which is where I first learned about this particular offering. ;)

awesome! upgrades across the Mac community means better deals on the current model of Mac's!

ps- I hope they release this in macs at the WWDC.

Anyone know if Apple is going to use a variant of Santa Rosa that takes advantage of Flash memory to avoid bottlenecks for frequently used data?

And more news from HP now. Still no sign of DDR2-800 being the standard RAM now. So RAM that you have for your Core Duo/Core 2 Duo hardware should work just fine at full speed on Santa Rosa!

Meanwhile, DDR3@1066MHz is just around the corner.... at least for Intel desktop CPUs (that Apple has yet to use.) Altho', the mobile platform will eventually reach the land of DDR3...

Mass production of the 1Gb DDR3 on the 80nm line will begin in the third quarter of this year to coincide with the launch of Intel 3-series code-named Bearlake chipsets that support the new memory standard. Hynix plans to manufacture the product on the new 66nm process beginning in late 2007.

when's the official release date? (I seem to recall someone saying it was today). Has anyone seen any benchmarks for SR systems to give a possible point of comparison.

Thanks

thanks. May's going to be a long month with all the anticipation building up to the wwdc and likely as not no new releases between now and then. I'm not planning tp upgrade for at least a year (as long as my computer behaves) but it's always nice to see what they have planned.

I seem to have my ear to above average ground and many of my "predictions" have been pretty close.

There. Anything "sooner" is a win. Anything missing entirely or more than 2 months later is a loss. I am shooting for a 70% record. Buy Apple stock.
