Bought my 2.2 MBP friday. No regrets. Should arrive wednesday/thursday. I'm so excited to have my first Mac!:apple:

i come into this website with no idea of what is going on with apple, and leave likewise.
I don't believe that one single person here has a clue what Apple intends to do next. It's all simply wishful thinking and frustration

I too placed an order last Thursday for a MacBook Pro and I'm quite happy with it. I must say I'm not just very happy but I'm also excited since this will be my first mac. I know they are due to be updated but I just can't wait anymore. The rumored updates seems nice, however I'm don't think will be some die-for features. Processor update is nice but I'm sure 2.6 Ghz will be plenty of speed. The multi touch trackpad sounds cool but from what I've seen from the MBA, it's not as usefull on a laptop than it is on the iPhone.

Anyway, this is my 2 cents.

Anyone knows when I can expect to get my MBP ? This is the dates they supplied when I ordered (I'm in Canada) :

Ships by: 18 Jan - 23 Jan
Delivers by: 28 Jan - 4 Feb

Thanks

Be patient guys, re-design is coming soon.

I work for the printing company that prints everything from banners, brochures, to boxes for Apple. We print everything.

Let's just say, I know whats up.

It just doen't add up. They cant release a completaly new MBP without the keynote. Its the tradition. I can just speculate but, following history, nothing adds up so far. Lets wait till 22nd.

Interesting! I know you can't say much, but are you talking >2 months "soon"? ;)

Soon?? I'm going to college next year and my ibook is on the fritz, PLEASE when is soon?? 1 week....a month....3 months?? I have decided to wait until February 12th (a random tuesday) and if nothing is changed by then, I will buy the current one. So, by what you know, is this long enough? PLEASE, give us just a little more info :(

I'll certainly be waiting awhile, I got one of the very first 17" Powerbooks (1 GHz G4), it still runs great except for the screen going all weird occasionally. I brought one of the 2.8 GHz iMac as a filler, which is a great upgrade, but I can't take the iMac to teach... a little bulky :) Anyway, although the current design is functional and looks good, I'm due for a change... coming up 5 years looking at the same keyboard is enough.... just being soft... I like a little change to entice me to work :)

sounds like you need it. So just go get a good deal on the refurb mbp now. You will not regret getting a current model as they are amazing machines. When the new ones come out, if you want to upgrade just sell your old one on ebay you'll get most if not all (I've gotten more than) your money back

Well, I had the old CC ready, and..... nada.

I'll wait a couple of months for a redesigned/upgraded MBP, then I'll probably take the plunge. At the mom my CD MacBook is still trundling along, with none of the problems other early adopters had, so I'm not desperate.

Having said that, I really was ready to go for the MBA -- except for the battery life.

If you can wait, wait. If not, buy it.

Didn't the Macbook get released without any of the fanfare from a keynote? I think the iBook to Macbook switch happened on a regular tuesday update, no special event or anything. They could do a new look for the MBP without a keynote, especially because it will be taking existing technology and looks from the MBA. In essence there will be nothing to to see.

The macbook wasn't a radical departure from the old iBook. If the mbp case is redesigned, it will be for a particular purpose, not just because a few forum members would like to see a new one. ;)

I think the current mbp case is here to stay, and that the upgrades that are due soon are merely going to be a new CPU, a possible increase in RAM/HD space, and maybe LED backlit screens in the 17" model.

So you risked your job by implicitly disclosing information which I guess your client requested be kept secret? Yeah right...

No clue here either

Yep, but I'm sure that is why they call this MacRumors!! Still running my trusty Ti Powerbook G4 and will not but my MBP until I see the updates/upgrades I want. Already have someone in line to buy old faithful so they also must wait! Do you think someone at Apple reads these forum pages? You would think that they would have bought a clue that people want the MBP updated. Maybe someone at Apple is holding all of us hostage on a MBP time-line...The Power to make us wait and wait and wait, Their tiny little Apple fist in the air while they laugh an evil MWWWAAAAHAAHAHAHA!!!

Buy Now

Just buy now. I just ordered mine yesterday. I'll only be a little upset if they come out with a redesign and I like it. Then again. I am upgrading from a MacBook Core Duo, so I won't be that upset. :)

"The MacBook Pro updates are certainly coming -- and soon."

That's what Mac Rumors' front page says at the moment. I know, I know, it's called Mac Rumors for a reason, but the rumours are sometimes right and to make such a statement must mean something's coming.

Personally, I'm going to wait. I got stung when I bought my current PowerBook only for, less than a week later, Apple to announce they were leaving IBM to go to Intel.

I'm not making that mistake again!!

Dangerously logical position there.
