I have been waiting since August...I decided after all that I really don't need all the CPU power from the the 2.4/2.6GHz 15". I went on eBay and bought a 2.2GHz 15" for only $1650 new. I really think that waiting for it is pointless. THe technology on a MBP is great, you can get many years out of it.

So right! Do take the money you saved and buy Apple Care just to be safe, unless you don't plan on having the hardware over a year. I have been looking at getting a refurbished model and dropping the $200.00 savings into the price of the AppleCare to offset the cost.

Its very possible they might update video cards or hard drive sizes but its all a crap shoot as far the updates will go.

I sense sarcasm in the force

So....I don't NEED it now...so I wait? But I waannt ittt hahaha

I guess I am waiting. Bigger hard drive space is important to me and I don't exactly need it now, I guess

Then by all means buy it. You can't go wrong. If you can hold off until the new Motherboard comes out (Second Half 08) you will see a higher increase in preformance.

I think it's a fairly safe bet that the design isn't going to change anytime soon. ;)

I'm just going on the fact that they are the ONLY mac with the old style keyboard, and you know how apple likes things uniform.;)

i feel you. Im thiiiiiis close to getting a refurb 15" glossy 2.4, and then grabbing an external drive for time machine with the money saved. However, I do want to have the newest available because ill have this thing for the next four years as my primary computer (and only besides the old thing for small windows need). I have a 3.5 year old HP pavilion now, and am really ready to make the switch.

If its working for now hold off in the hopes Intel gets the 45nm CPUs into Apple's hands so they can do the minor refresh in the next couple of weeks because its not worth returning it (within 14 days) for a 10% loss.

You will still be able to buy the "Old" models if they happen to release the 45nm versons for a bit of time or go refurb and save a few extra $$$ but I hightly doubt they would announce a new shell for a minor CPU upgrade.

I hear you. I hate that keyboard:confused:

Nice website by the way. Is that your company?

not the 2.6ghz models. Those are not sold as refurbs since they are bto. Well, maybe every once in awhile but I imagine sehr hard to get;)

15.4" 2.4Ghz

Retail Price: $2,499.00
Employee Price: $2,299.00
Refurb: $2,099.00

Save $400.00 USD. which isn't too shabby.

there also is the option of the adc student discount. If you get the updated macbook pro 2.6ghz 7200 rpm HDD, it takes %20 off the price.

Retail: $2949

with ADC discount: $2359

ADC student costs $99 but includes a free copy of leopard which retails for $129 and also includes cool developing software etc.

Very true as long as you are a university student. Which sadly I'm not anymore. But good point for the younger crowd

I would say that we have March to April to wait for updates purely to allow as many MBAs to be sold as possible. Then we will get a MBP update maybe with a form factor change to the new keyboard and touchpad. The MBP may even offer a SSD option.

Then in say Sept/Oct we will get a MBA update, with few changes except price. Or if there has been real issues we might see a board redesign to have a second flappy fold down thing with FW/Ethernet port/Optical in/out...but thats probably wishful thinking on my part.

yeah I mean honestly, Apple is a business and Im sure they release updates as the demand for the latest revision (in this case the MBA) starts to decline. As soon as the flocks stop buying MBA we will see some kind of update...

So since I JUST bought a MacBook Pro, and the new one comes out this Tuesday, is there some way I can return this one and get the new one? By the way I bought this one from Best Buy.

Do you actually have proof of a new Macbook Pro coming out, or is this just the greed talking?

By that logic the macbooks should have gotten aluminum casing, since they're the only line without it. ;)

It isn't so black and white. When Apple changes designs, it's for a particular purpose. The current macbooks/macbook pros have essentially remained the same since the iBook G4 and Powerbook G4 days (with the exception that the macbook now has a black option).

Anyone now think a MBP redesign could be coming, since they were able to resize a C2Duo into the Air. I feel like they could squeeze some girth out of the MBP. I'd also really appreciate a throwback to the Tibook with ports on the back, but that won't likely happen. Right now the MBP is awkward to use as a desltop replacement.

i would say i wreally like the current design. maybe just change plastic to alu then. its perfect as it if...

I hear you. I hate that keyboard:confused:

change that to my blog now. that site is just one i am with much. not mine.

Here in Belgium several stores are also having promotions on de mbp, I hope a new version is comming within one month!
And some stores in the Netherlands are also having promotions!
Fingers crossed...
