What a shame... Do they really have nothing else to do? I guess this is where the phrase "iDiot" comes into play...!!!

While I agree that it's stupid to wait a whole week in line for a phone, I wouldnt immediately jump and say they have nothing else to do. For example, I still have 5 weeks of vacation left at work that I can use by the end of the year, so if I was that much of a fanatic, I could take the week off (paid vacation FTW) and get myself in the news.

I sense someone after free publicity/ A flash mob style intervention.
Unless you come well prepared a week wait is a long long time.

people i think were missing something when you say "they shouldn't have taken the baby"

what are they going to leave it at home?

Line Starts at 5th Avenue Apple Store

Engadget reports that a line has already formed at the 5th Avenue Apple Store. The motivation behind lining up so early doesn't seem to be to try be the first to get the iPhone 3G. Instead, it appears they simply want to break a world record for standing in line. In fact, based on the interview, I'm not even sure they know much about the iPhone.

Besides, Apple Retail stores have not yet announced when they are going to start selling the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3G will go on sale at 8:00 a.m. local time on July 11th at AT&T stores.

oh wow, I am going to go start queing and beat these guys for the record queing time, cos I will be queing for the 16 core Mac Pro...

crazy...more so when they dont know anything about what they are in line for

Lines

As a diehard Apple fan, but not a crazy one, I applaud my fellow fanatics.
Actually, there should be a line at this store 24/7, 365 days a year. Just because.

In that video the guy looks like he is on drugs. How do these people afford iphones dont they have jobs?

If anyone wanted to be the first to get the iPhone in the world they would head down to New Zealand, first of the 21 countries to hit July 11th.

Cant wait to see how long this is in another 6 days.

Gee, I don't know. How about realize a child's welfare is more important than a phone, stay home with the baby, and wait till next week?

They aren't doing it because they think there will be a problem getting the phone. They are doing it for the publicity. If they do stay out there all that time (I bet the kid will be passed off to someone staying at home), they get the publicity as they wait, and then being the first one out of the New York store with an iPhone gets extra pictures and stuff.

this just cannot be true. No one could be stupid enough wasting a week of their life waiting for a phone that will have tons of availibity.

Yeah, I am thinking this is some publicity stunt. If its not, I sure hope the kid is just there to visit then heading back home with a sitter, etc. Although the story says they are hoping to break the record and the first baby to wait with them.

I just have to type this.

The kid? The things people will do to get an extra phone! :)

LOL. My word exactly. Except I'll be queuing for the 'tablet Mac'. LOL

You know, if they were there for the iPhone 3G...

That'd be more sad than lining up to break a world record.

My oppinon is they are all idoits.
It isnt the first iphone there is no reason to act like this but oh well, when people dont have real jobs it is what it is.
