Next question: Saturday delivery? (I'm doubting it, but I'm sure I'm among those wanting to know anyway...)

I doubt there will be Saturday deliveries. But if they want to make people happy, they will do it.

Well I'll try 5AM eastern time when I wake. I doubt they'll be sold out by then or servers flooded. No way that many people will be up that early.

I remember being up around 2AM PST when the server was slammed trying to order the iPhone 4. Finally got my order through at around 4ish... yeah that constituted a sick day. :D

So If online orders are based off pacific time, what about the release of the ipad in stores. Maybe it's actually going to be 8:00pm est instead of 5:00pm est.

while i'm sure it won't be sold out by then, i'm sure there will be a ton of people up at that time to order it.

i'm waiting to hear when the campus book store will get them, but i'm really leaning towards just ordering online now. i wonder how fast this free shipping will be...

Thats because on top of everyone trying to order they also had to go through verification with AT&T to determine pricing eligibility.. So hopefully we shouldn't see that problem this time around.!

Brick and mortar releases always occur at local time, so it will be 5 PM local time no matter where you are.

The rep I chatted with confirmed the 12:01 time. He didn't explicitly say Pacific Time - I bet that still holds true, though.

He also didn't have anything to say about shipping speed. So no good news to report there, I'm afraid. I guess the best indication of how fast we would get them would be the experience of people who ordered iPhone 4's online on the day of release.

So, iPhone 4 owners, how about it?

According to apple reps, wasn't the iPhone 4 Preorder supposed to start at midnight pacific as well?

If I remember correctly it started at around 2 AM Pacific, and crashed about 5-10 min later. To be fair though more people pre ordered the iPhone 4 than there will be buying the iPad 2.

They also had to deal with AT&T's system (for upgrade eligibility) at that time too.
