Yep, Apple Store, Ridgedale Mall :D

I called at 9:59am and asked if they had them in. After getting transfered to a few people I was told that they had them in, but had not had a chance to check them in. I said I'd be there soon for the Base model. He confirmed that they had at least one of them in.

I got there and the person who greeted me was a bit confused, went back to check, and came out to ask me "How did you know about these new MacBook Pros before I did?" HAHA! :):)
I said, "Really? Come on. HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc... had these chips for a while. Its Tuesday, so I was online at 7:00 checking the online store."

Looks good :) Now all i need before ordering is a comparison between 2,4Ghz and the 2,5Ghz 6mb cache !

heat

I am hoping to get to a mac store soon to look at one.

Does anyone know weather the new chips Penryn, create less heat.

I was hoping for a redesign but the specs look AWESOME.
I just perfer the macbook keyboards, :)

He heat on the ALU is not my fav thing.
Want a cooler Macbook pro,, wondering if this is it?

I m sure they create less heat. I don't have the thermal specifications in front of me now, but when you do a die shirk (from 60nm to 45nm in this case) you always get less power needed and lower heat output/

So, in the case of new MBPs, we should get slightly longer battery life and colder laps.

Can you give us your iStat temps please :D

That is a shame. My SR macbook gets 2937 geekbench.

Would anyone like me to post a pic of the stats?

i just did mine (last gen)

2.2 ghz 4 gig ram

got:

Geekbench Score 2863
Integer Score 2439
Floating Point Score 3947
Memory Score 2181
Stream Score 1921

higher stream score, lower everything else..barely

could the stream score deal with cache..is that why mine was higher?

My 2.2 SR MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM gets a geekbench sore of 2883.

So I guess the 'difference' isn't *that* great?

I wonder if the smaller amount of cache on the 'base' model comes in to plat here; I would be interested in seeing the benchmark for the 2.5 ghz version too, but to be honest, regardless, I'm still more than happy with my 2.2 ghz Santa Rosa!

what are you guys using for this benchmark? i'm thinking about doin mine.

I just ran it on my 2.2GHz MBP SR and I got 2902. The speed difference must be small.
