This is a shot of the Mac notebook page in the inventory system. As you can see there are 3 new skus (the dummy skus) that have been created that were not there a few days ago.

Also, before someone calls me an idiot, this is not my stores info in the pic, just a random bestbuy that happens to carry mac.

Are the dummy SKUs just placeholders for new products?

Also, what is best buys history with having apple laptops on the day they are announced?

They're not in-store or in the warehouse yet. Nor have they been fleshed out with any specs in the description.

Yes, they're used commonly as placeholders for products that haven't been officially announced and things like that. Not sure about the track record with availability on release day.

My crazy "announce a bunch of stuff before you give any more details about the iPad" theory is panning out.

Looking more like this Tuesday (I hope.)... :)

I believe we carry 5 mbp skus atm. This could be a partial update, I believe these were just added today.

Two 15" and one 17"? Maybe they don't believe the 13" MBP will be updated?

This theory might be plausible because I noticed that the 13" was the only unit we had in stock. Pure speculation though.

I hope this is good news.

Thanks for the news, OP.

Can you post detail screens of the dummy ones? (e.g. I want to see the add date -- were they here a month ago? Etc.)

I been reading a lot of different rumors sites and by far 9to5mac is the worst piece of ****, its nothing more than the rantings of one of macrumors readers. They deliver nothing new and make the most obscene "wants" for the mbp

a less angry rant.... 3 skus would make sense and goes nicely with the previous leak of 6,1 and 6,2 models...a 15" and 17" model, currently there are 2 15" and 1 17" model, so there does not seem like there is going to be an updated 13"

Why do people assume that 6,1 and 6,2 must be 15" and 17"? What if the 17" is left out? :(

Might just be wishful thinking.. but doesn't Apple like to advertise their Macbook Pros as a "family" of high performance machines? It wouldn't make any sense to break up that family by only updating half the lineup. My hope is that Apple is restructuring their lineup. Rather than have 2 13", 3 15" and one 17", they are just having one of each. Those 3 are the base models listed as dummy SKUs, and online you can have BTO with different graphics card and processor speed options. I mean how many of you wanted that 512MB 9600GT but didn't need the 2.8GHz processor, and would have rather had it in the lower 2.4GHz model so that you didn't need to pay extra for power you didn't need?

Anyways, thats my blind optimism at work again.

Where/ who did you obtain this photo from? Legitimate sources?
