I like the date and time that we just reached in American date notation. There was another one 12 hours ago too!

For some reason, I thought you all needed to know that!

Q, I gotta say, you're probably the only person in the world (or at least MR) who pays attention to these weird number occurrences.

But it's cool.

Yes very cool. What I really like are dates like 6/6/66 or 7/7/77 or in my stepbrothers case he was born on 8/8/88.

A real old one 01/23/45.

See, that last date can never exist here.

I've always wondered why Americans put the month first? You guys say "January 1st" while we say "The 1st of January" - would that be the reason or is there a more archaic version?

Because it's easier for organization. In fact, things would be even easier to organize if you arranged things in YYYY/MM/DD, particularly files. Things are quicker to look up.

However, I hate MM/DD/YYYY, and I've always felt that DD/MM/YYYY was more natural.

Perversity. We also buy Coke in liters but everything else in quarts. Go figure.

Speaking of dates... I still think Y2K was a conspiracy invented by ex-commie lesbian Nazi martians to create mass hysteria and get people to go nuts buying non-perishables they never needed in the first place. :D

I remember 9-9-99 as well... That day came and went without a hitch, thank goodness.

Anyone remember 11-23-94? Oh man! What a day! I'll never forget it...

cool date! did you actually post it on the minute Doctor Q? i cant be bothered changing my time zone in my profile.

Abstract is dead on especially if it is computer filing, broadest first. And mixing up month before day does seem really unnatural and weird, like not in any order.

I also like to think the day is most important, so it should be the first thing you see, not like oh no! I am going to miss my appointment this month!

Hey, who leaked this? The agreement was not to tell melrose!

Of course, and I accounted for the forum server's clock vs. my clock and the lag in posting new threads.

The American date format is indeed silly. Since we apparently prefer to be illogical, I think we should go all the way and group the tens digits separately from the ones digits, so December 31, 2008 would be 130/218. Bad for sorting and bad for people too!

Everything I do is dated with the format YYYY/MM/DD. I guess it's all my years of database design and programming. Just makes things easier.

I think it's cool that Dr. Q notice this; I never would've.

I often name files on my computer with origination dates (since the actual file date might change). So I might name a file something like
