Serious! I bought a giant inflatable banana for last year's picnic, seemed like a good idea at the time

I'm setting a challenge for someone to bring a giant inflatable apple this year :apple:

Ah yes, the only event big enough to make me wish I was British.

I can't make it. Instead, as a tribute to all of you who are going, I can drink alone in my room while you have your picnic. :)

Didn't someone bring a cooler filled with ice or something last year? I'm concerned that people are going to bring all kinda of spirits/mixers/tiquela and pimms and they're going to get warm, who brought one last time?

Last time we bought 3 or 4 bags of ice at Waitrose in Marylebone High Street and a few big refuse sacks and stuck the ice and any alcohol in the sacks in the shade - and we did have some coolbags/chillers too.

This picnic is also the same day as Live Earth in London.

They should have called us first. Their media coverage will be outshone by far more important events elsewhere... ;)

But, to the point, every summer weekend in London has one or more events going on. Shifting the date around to accommodate everything and everyone is a fruitless exercise, and for those who are planning to come from outside London, knowing a date far in advance is very helpful for making plans.

The discussion of a date has been going on for some time elsewhere and no-one objected at the time when it was first suggested.

If people want to go to Wembley or watch Live Earth on telly, then that's OK too. Last year, there were some World Cup matches on TV but that didn't stop those of us who were there having a good time.

If they're going to Wembley, fair enough. But they can record the TV coverage! ;) :)

You got room for 2 more BV ? Mrs Liketom might want to come as well:cool:

The more, the merrier. :)

I'd like to meet and chat to more people this year, rather than having to personally disappear because of self-inflicted and excessive over-consumption of various substances. Lightweight. :p

;) The concert will be "Carbon Neutral" Hybrid cars will be used apparently. Now is it just me, or does the idea of the RHCP and all their kit in a Prius sound funny:D

I'll butt me oar in and say "But of course I'll be there!". Some big poxy thing in Hyde Park is clearly inferior to the picnic o' greatness. The wondrous Liam may also put in an appearance. :)

Think it's in Wembley now. Of course, it would be wonderful to see both you and Mr. Lau :p ... even with vows of abstinence. Good on you. :)

And it will be lit by the light shining from Bono's arse...
Joke stolen from Have I Got News For You?'

Oh and I take it skunk's not going to be bringing who he brought last time... .
I don't know why you should assume that. Be prepared is all I can say. I'll be trundling along with my freezer in the back of the car, tarpaulin, folding chairs and small furry animal, probably via M&S in Marylebone High Street again, since that worked so well last time. Might even be able to offer a lift to a boney arse on the way...

D'oh, dunno where I was going with that one.

Yes, I think it's time to let everyone know that I've sworn off parks for good. :p I shall be conducting any conversations and frisbee throwing through the railings. ;)

I'm gonna try make it. 350 miles is a long way to drive tho. But ive got plenty of time to plan, so we'll see. :D

You could train it down – there's a few of us coming from Scotland. Join us at Newcastle! :D

Almost made it, I will be in London for 2 weeks but I'm leaving on the 7th. If we are flying over Hyde Park I'll wave. :D
