So let me get this straight. Your challenge is to compare a phone on a 3G network vs a phone on a 4G network? Ummmmmm, that marketing person should be FIRED. IMMEDIATELY. Because this makes the brand look even more laughable than it already is.

Further, this has nothing to do with the actual phones either, which makes it all the more stupid.

T-Mobile is challenging Seattle area iPhone users to a unique challenge. Friday, April 29 – Sunday, May 1, 2011, bring your iPhone into one of our 10 participating stores to take part in a speed challenge. If your iPhone can beat the Galaxy S 4G in two out of three speed tests (download speed), we’ll give you 1,000 bucks.

T-Mobile has been making significant investments in our network, which is why we are confident our smartphone can beat the iconic iPhone, which runs on Verizon’s and AT&T’s 3G networks. This speed challenge will give Seattle area iPhone users the chance to see for themselves why we are so excited about T-Mobile’s 4G network and why now is a great time to be a T-Mobile customer.

Keep an eye on the T-Mobile blog this weekend for live updates, video and photos from the Seattle speed challenge.

And in other news, an 18 year old kid beats a 94 year old man in a 2000 meter race.

Well as far as I know, is this a test against a tmobile customer or a test between an uncapped unthrottled tmobile network?

Tmobile, old users I believe have a 4-5GB cap w/unlimited. New users I believe have a 2GB cap, before they throttle you down.

I believe AT&T has a 4GB cap, before they throttle you.

So do a streaming download against a new Tmobile customer and Bamn! AT&T might win =D.

Too bad I bet those T-Mobile accounts are demos. =/ - But now I am curious who throttles more bandwith and by how much. =D

AT&T doesn't throttle, Verizon and T-Mobile do.

This shows that 4g is out there and is here to stay, more proof that big brother to some people on here, whoops sorry apple, should be bringing 4g to the next iPhone.
Other phone manufacturers have caught up and passed apple now....

Passed Apple? Hardly, it's not like 4G is available in many markets. I mean look at Verizon. Their 4G LTE is DOWN. It completely crashed and now Verizon's 4G devices are having a hard time even accessing 3G. Sprint doesn't even use LTE, they use WiMax. In ten years Verizon and AT&T phones may be cross compatible but Sprint will be on it's own.

If not for the keyboard/dock, most would have mistaken it for one of the two other new Honeycomb tablets we acquired in the last week. iPad sales numbers not withstanding, there are still quite a few who simply prefer the tactile to the abstract.netbook It's familiar and thereby comforting, I think.

Hi i just want to know reviews about this product from anyone who has one as i was looking to buy. What are pros/ cons?
With the number of tablets coming out and the fierce competition that ha arisen within the tablet-related arena in the last couple of years, 7 inch Upgrated Google Android 2.2 Tablet 4GB HDMI 3D Game with Remote Control MID Aluminum Shell
it is vital for you to work out what kind of tablet you want before purchasing.

When it comes to tablets, we're not really ready for software keyboards, 8 inch Freescale A8 Google Android 2.2 Tablet 512MB 4GB HDD External 3G With WiFiare we? Or maybe the developers of software keyboards aren't yet ready for us.

This week, we received the Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet. Like with most new tablets that enter this building, it was immediately pounced on by a pack of ravenous wolves group of my coworkers.

What made the Transformer's debut more exciting than most was its primary claim to fame and origin of its namesake: the keyboard/dock accessory.

In the case of the Transformer, it's also utilitarian. Android 2.3 8 inch Google 1080P HDMI Support Flash 10.1 Gravity Sensor Tablet PC The $150 accessory includes two USB ports, an SD card reader, and its own battery. Once connected, it's like your very own Honeycomb Netbook.

This requires its own post. I love that the tablet so many people dismissed and ignored is the one flying of shelves. I got to say ASUS did a good job on this one. Where the expensive xoom failed ASUS cleaned up. Welcome to the honey comb era. Its now official honeycomb is here.

Err, why repost a spammers post? He's breaking the forum rules by joining only to advertise products from a website he's associated with.

That is funny. They probably have an unbeatable 4G network in Seattle, which is great. I wouldn't switch entirely for speed though. If I switched MetroPCS, I could be getting 5Mb/s speeds but I think i'll take my iPhone for now

I'm in England, and 4g isn't here yet, but surely over there now that 4g is starting to be more available you think apple would bring it to the next gen iPhone, if it's true the next one isn't until sept and without 4g in sept 2012 when apple seem to be moving there release to it's a very very long time on the mobile Market.
Maybe by then the other phone manufacturers will be one step ahead again, but then again apple could bring a absolute pile of crap phone and the fanboys on here will still buy it!!!..

I'd take an iPhone over a POS Android regardless of 4G any day of the week. ;)

And T-Mobile know most people think this too. Hence this desperate stunt.

You know it's funny the tricks marketers come up with, I guess it must be hard in the smartphone market. Most people in contracts won't change-and if you buy lots of apps (android or ios whatever) you are less likely to switch when you can-and this particular strategy won't work with folks looking to get their first smartphone. In other words-fail.

The galaxy S is a great phone. Where do you get this information its a POS. Yes it is not an iPhone. Does that mean it is bad no. I personally prefer android better then iOS. Partially because I don't like being tied down to apples hardware. Same reason I don't like their computers. They make great software but their hardware does not meet my standards.

Heh, T-Mobile has a few Android phones that are most certainly not POS phones.

More info. its a win win.

If you happen to pull off an upset and beat T-Mobile at its game, the carrier will give you a cool $1K. If not, T-Mobile will give you $300 to trade in that slow iPhone for that blazing new Galaxy S 4G.

Kind of sleazy, if you ask me. This isn't a device contest. It's a network contest. It's TMO saying "Our network is faster than theirs." framed as "Our devices are better than theirs."

Admittedly, TMO has the best and most saturated "4G" experience out there. But as I told an Android fanboy friend of mine yesterday when he sent me the link to this story from an Android site, Who cares? It still has Android on it.

If I wanted to settle for less of a user experience I would have bought an Android TMO phone and called it a day a long time ago. Wait, I already bought four, and returned them all.

No It's not.

It's a POS of the highest order. From it's POS Pentil Matrix Display to is plastic fantastic construction to the wonky GPS.

Not to mention you can't even get the latest and greatest Android OS on it from Samsung.
