Outrageous!! That’s $120 more than I paid for my 256gb 12.9” iPad Pro 2, which, for productivity, is a FAR more capable machine! (Still trying to figure out how to fit it into my pants pocket, however.)

Yeah that's mental. I mean even $1,099 felt like a lot. $1,149 is a punch in the face.

Now let me preorder it!!

In NW-Europe € 1329 . That's obscene. Can't justify that price for a fecking phone. I'm holding off and will buy the 2018 plus only if the design is updated and it has a 5.5 inch screen in a smaller size footprint.

If Google can convince me to pick up a Pixel 2, they will have saved me from a lot of waiting. The only way I can see this happening:

1: Google shows off a IR/depth sensing camera.
2: More screen surface area than the iPhone X.
3: Dual OIS in dual cameras.
3: Magical features we don't know about that has yet to been seen.
About 4: it can magically take your money.

If I will get one I have to promise myself to keep it for at least two or three years. And I do not trust myself enough as every year I am tempted to upgrade.

You think that's bad?

Due to taxes etc., the 256 GB X is 10,249.00 DKK here in Denmark. That is 1618.14 USD at todays rates.

Brits will paying the equivalent to $1,524.

That's crazy. Couldn't do it.

That's a hell of a lot of coin to part with.

Apple introduced 3 brand new phones this year. 3 full featured no compromise phones. The 8, 8 Plus and the X all have the same features in terms on CPU, Storage, Performance and only slight differences in clock frequency, RAM, camera, etc. Under the hood they are all essentially the same.

The X is a premium / luxury item and is priced as such. Can't afford the X? That's why the 8 exists... the x probably wasn't meant for you. You aren't sacrificing anything. You can still run the same apps. You can still use the same services.

The X is for those who don't think about price. Ever look at something and wonder "How much does that cost?" In my experience, if you have to ask the question you probably can't afford it. All watches tell time but some people choose a Rolex over a timex. All cars have 4 wheels and get you from A - B... but some people choose a BMW over a Kia.

And some people with Choose an x over an 8 or some other android device...

I created this thread immediately after the key note announcement, but it appears that it was necroed. I've since gotten over the sticker shock and will be preordering the 256GB X in either color.

Where? The only thing that price tag will get you is a closet in someone's house in the basement. o_O

A closet that you have to share with 4 roommates, more like!

Especially for a phone that basically does the same thing as every other recent iPhone due to iOS just in a different form factor and a new way to unlock.

The only reason for me to update would be if i was still using an iPhone 5 and only update every 4+ years or so but i dont so i will stick to my 7 Plus

See, this is why you should've gotten the 512GB iPad. ;)

$929 for a Note 8 vs $999 for iPhone X, both with 64GB of onboard storage. Not a massive difference.

I dont mind paying the premium for iOS and the benefits of the Apple ecosystem.

I've just seen an interview with Tim where he said it's not too expensive because you can trade in your old phone to get the price down and "most people don't pay outright for their phones." He also said that Apple's objective isn't one of revenue but of "building the best products." Does he even believe the rubbish that comes out of his mouth? You don't have to be a genius to realise Apple's sole objective is revenue and profits these days, because if it weren't they'd be making far better products.

Listening to an Apple executive speak is like reading a very fine tuned press release with carefully chosen words. It's not genuine.

I don't understand your analogy here. And how would you even consider this for somebody that might upgrade annually.
I upgrade annually so I'm only paying half of the phone. (Give it back or sell it for half the cost; easy to do with an iPhone). But most importantly my 7+ 256 is $40 a month and the X 256 will be $47 a month. Only $7 difference! No biggie

Well, Apple's not shoving bamboo shoots under my finger nails till I cough up the dough so I'm keeping my money. Huummm, guess that's a vote with my wallet.
