What carrier?
I ordered mine at 3:03 and got confirmation email at 3:05.
Been been preparing to ship since Saturday and nothing since then

Mine is the 16gb tmobile gold.
My discover card actually showed the full amount charged Sunday night but today it's gone and when I contacted them they said the authorization went through but Apple will only charge it once it's shipped so evidently they haven't yet although there is no issue with payment.

Apple's logistics suck. Standard 32GB black AT&T, nothing special. Ordered expedited shipping and it was stuck in "Preparing to Ship" since Sunday (or maybe Saturday). Like you I saw the pending charge for the full amount but no longer see the charge and I actually received my tracking number tonight. UPS scheduled delivery: Monday October 1st; so far just an Order Ready in China and Origin Scan in Zheng Zhou. Seems most other people who ordered at the same time are receiving their phone almost a week earlier. 1-3 business days to ship and 2 business day delivery worst case should have been Friday (since Apple doesn't count the Friday we ordered and UPS likely doesn't count the first day). "Expedited" delivery turned into 7+ business days, absurd.
I called Apple (the guy was extremely rude) and kindly asked to refund the expedited shipping charge. He got more upset so I just asked for his manager and he took care of it in 2 minutes.
The irony in it all? Walking past my local Apple store tonight they had the model/color/size in stock (in fact they had nearly every model if anyone on the boards wants one shipped to them) so I picked one up; in and out in about 10 minutes. I hope my little iPhone has a good vacation in Zheng Zhou (followed by I assume Korea) because once it arrives it will be going right back and Apple can add it to their RMA pool.
Hey Tim Cook: Since you totally read these forums and and know so much about logistics, why is this the worst "pre-order" (or should I call it "order" since there was no pre-) experience I've had? I've pre-ordered every iPhone except the 1 (walked in and bought that in 5 minutes as well) and received it on or within a day of launch day. Nice work ensuring stores across the country (and world) are almost always out of inventory, but more notably ensuring that employees both on the phone and in the stores have no idea when and where stock is. For a software driven company it's amazing that each and every Apple device isn't tracked from manufacturing facility to the customers hands not only for tracking purposes but so you can learn when/where to improve the system.
I suppose the best part about my little iPhone shopping experience today was the young lady trying to buy an iPhone, who after 4-5 minutes of talking to a "genius" started pounding her fists on the table yelling "*$&%" over and over again until storming out of the store. If that's not a happy customer I sure don't know what is.
Congratulations on bringing a positive and exciting buying experience to Apple; filled with lines, rude employees, and pissed off customers. It makes me never want to order or see another product again. Either you've got some kinks to work out and it will get better or it's the start of a new decline (like your stock, glad I sold that a while back).
Will keep you posted if it shows up before Tuesday but I doubt it will; this thread will probably be long forgotten about and we'll be on to the 7-10 day or October crowd by the time this unit shows up.
