1.67 PB G4s are notorious for having bad RAM slots. I wouldn't honestly be surprised if that was the case.

Then call me lucky! I re-seated the ram and BOOM! 2GB registered! I now have a functional computer!

Now it's not fully functional for the LCD is toast, and there is no battery. I was wondering if anybody from the community has any of the following parts:

A1138 Complete top LCD
Left arrow key
Clock battery
Battery
1 Ram Door screw

If anybody has ANY of these parts let me know. I would rather give my business to people on the forum rather than the jerks on eBay.

I don't think the DLHR models suffered from that problem as much as the previous model(s).

Nice OP! The DLHR PBG4 are great machines! I'm still working on completing mine.

Yeah I was lucky to find this. I was browsing CL for Apple laptops, when I saw this one for a mere $25. It didn't have any specs of the system. Just said "PowerBook G4 For Parts or Repair". I emailed the guy and asked him for the model number. My eyes lit up when I saw "A1138". I met him the next day and bought it! Totally worth it. It had everything but a charger, ram, and the screen was cracked. At least it had a newer 160GB HDD!!! I probably wouldn't have bought it if it were a different model.

It's lookin' great! For great performance, after you've got all the parts you need and are willing to spend some money, an HD upgrade may be worthwhile. They 15 and 17 inch PBs look very easy to get into by looking at www.ifixit.com guides. And also, thermal paste. As gavinstubs09 said, it does help reduce temps. For a suitable laptop, thermal paste should be replaced every 5 years. Of course nobody does that, but it certainly will reduce temps several degrees and will make a difference especially under Leopard.

I will probably not be upgrading the HDD, because I never use a lot of hard drive space. Also, I am not too comfortable with disassembling this thing. It doesn't seem to get too hot so I think it will be okay. Otherwise I have been wanting one of these for a long time!
