I agree 100%, but doesn't this comment directly contradict what you said about Apple not giving a crap about appeasing their customers with backwards compatibility?

I must have totally botched how I wanted what I said before to come across.

Let me try again:

When Apple releases a new accessory, it is very rarely backwards compatible with older hardware.

Examples: The 24" Cinema Display forces you to buy a unibody MacBook to use it. The 8800 GT forced people to buy a Penryn Mac Pro to use it (fixed due to outcry, but they're professionals).

I didn't mean that Apple didn't backwards-support new computers, but rather that they don't backwards-support new features/accessories/aspects of new products.

More like that, I think.

Fair enough.

The missing FW400 is a non-issue. I seriously don't know why people on those forums are still ranting on about it. Open your mind and look at the other possibilities cause every MBP has this really cool and useful interface called ExpressCard34 slot. Professional users everywhere can buy add-on cards to expand their mobile platforms, giving them infinite access to whatever ports they require, for whatever reason.

Hmmm.... Am i in the wrong forum?
I swear it says "Mac Pro, Power Mac" up top...

Read harder: I was referring to the number of firewire ports, not the speed of them. A single port is fine on the white MacBook, but I think it's unacceptable on an allegedly professional machine, and coupled with the displays, it's indicative of how out of touch Apple is with pro users. Either that or they care more about the trendy idiots who'll buy anything with an Apple logo, instead of those of us who kept them in business before the Mac became a fashion accessory.

As for your cute little comment on which forum this is, I'm entirely cognizant of which forum we're posting in. I referenced another product line because Apple haven't made any significant changes to the Pro in a while, and their treatment of the portable line is germane in the context of precedent for future changes to the product being currently discussed.

 indeed.
