1 GB RAM enough for Leopard, or should I upgrade?

i agree but just is always good to read reviews before getting anything in my opinion and not rely only on price. no brainer to go ahead and get the 2gigs now though


ps: 25 bucks is only 5 burritoes! lol i put money in terms of food

OK It's $8.80 shipping so we need to figure out how to order them together at once. Do you have a credit card?

It's $54.67 with same shipping $6.69 3 Day UPS (Cheapest) for both no sales tax. I only want to contribute $24 so I will mail you a check when you prove you have ordered it with a jpg post of your invoice minus your details deleted. Is that too hard?

I just ordered a single stick that the order total came out to 29.

If you dont want to pay the 29 dollars dont worry about it. I can probably deal with the 1.5 gigs until I get out of college.

You went ahead with the order without ordering TWO? I would have mailed you the $24 if you had ordered TWO. CANCEL That order and do it again for two and I will mail you a check for $24.

So I offer to pay for the second stick and you refuse my offer? Man I guess you only deserve to have 1.5GB inside. :rolleyes:
 
So you´re saying Tiger is running adequately with 512MB? Right now I´m sitting in front of a 20" 2.1GHz G5 iMac with 512MB ram, and the experience reminds me of running OS X on my old G3 233MHz with 192MB – it´s beach ball party all the way.

I´m forced to use it for another week so to save my sanity I´ve ordered a 2GB stick.

He Can Afford Both Sticks + Leopard For Less Than He Spent For One + Leopard

Turns out he ordered Leopard for $116 instead of looking around and finding it at a nearby school for $69. So I'm asking him to cancel that order and I will send him the $69 Leopard and he will come out with money in his pocket without me having to give him any.

$75 Leopard including shipping
+ $54.67 TWO 1GB sticks including shipping

$129.67

He was going to do:

$116 Leopard
$30.68 ONE 1GB stick
____________
$146.68

So I am saving him $17.01 without having to give him anything.

UPdate: His school gave him a $100 credit toward the Leopard so now his Leopard only costs $16 plus tax

More than enough. I just upgraded my sister's Intel Macbook last night to Leopard. She has 1GB of 667 DDR and it runs beautifully. Definitely faster than Tiger in these respects:

1. iTunes is much snappier and does not bog your system anymore.
2. Airport menu comes down right away without delay like in Tiger.

There's probably more faster tweaks from Leopard but we haven't noticed them yet. I am still waiting for my copy in the mail to upgrade my Macbook Pro. I could always use my sister's disc but that wouldn't be right, would it ;-)

Used 971MB out of 2GB. This is on a MacBook Pro that's been on for 18+ hours. I would say 1GB is not enough.

I'm actually thinking about ordering 4GB, scared to run XP in VMware Fusion now.
 
Rebooted, and ran the same programs. 535MB out of 2GB. Still a good bit more than what Tiger used, but the OS feels much faster. Just an FYI
