If someone starts messing with the part of your body with one of the most nerve endings and you don't wake up, I think the issue maybe doctorworthy![]()
to all the non-foreveraloners on here, what if your significant other wants to get into your phone?
easy.. wait for you to sleep and then use your thumb to gain access.
I'm not agreeing with the paranoid types around here, but I'm pretty sure that a normal person doesn't wake up any time something lightly touches their fingertip. Certainly not during the deepest part of the sleep cycle. For instance, haven't you heard of the old prank where you put someone's hand in warm water while they're asleep?
I guess it depends on how much pressure the sensor requires.
Here's another thing nobody seems to have considered so far. Imagine the only way to unlock you device would be through the fingerprint scanner, and ahortly after setting it up you lose both hands due to a tragic accident involving mad squirrels. Then how would you ever unlock your phone again, let alone use it at all?!?!11/ maybe Apple is smart and it doubles as a nose scanner...but still, the thought alone makes me shiver
First, it's not overlooked. This is at least the 3rd time I've seen this exact scenario brought up.
Second, you don't have to use the fingerprint scanner. I'm sure you'll still be able to choose to use a passcode.
Third, as others have said, your relationship and trust issues aren't Apple's problem.

We use the same kinda sensor at work, and whilst I was being slightly hyperbolic - it is still pretty obvious.
The new finger print scanner will be so advanced, it will actually know when you're awake or sleeping and only activate when you're awake.
They still haven't figured out how to stop it from working if your finger has been removed from your body and your gf just uses it whenever she wants. They're working on it, though.
what's the point buying fingerprint identity sensor? if the sensor cant figure out?
again how you gonna unlock 5s if your finger got slightly cut via sharp paper, knife etc...
If you're married I don't see the issue with your other seeing your device. Not going to debate on that though.

I think you have a bigger problem if your significant other gets into your phone while you're asleep.
