I have a 42mm Black Sport that I received on launch day. I pretty much wear it everywhere (at my desk in the office, to the gym, going for walks, doing yard work, in the pool).

-Aluminum casing has no scratches at all, it literally looks new.
-Heartbeat sensor has some slight roughness right in the middle, I think this is from the charger, it doesn't seem to affect the sensors though.
-Screen has some very tiny scratches right on the curved edge above the "Friends/Apple Pay" button, that I think I noticed within the first week of wearing the watch. Hardly noticeable though since they are on the dark bezel. No other scratches on the screen.
-Black band doesn't feel quite as soft and rubbery as my newer sport bands, but still looks good.
-My wife has a 38mm Silver Sport with a white band, the band still looks great, and cleans up very easily under some water.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the durability of the Sport Watch.

I also have a blank link bracelet, I'm very displeased with the durability. After wearing it only two or three times, the black has worn off and shows silver in places where the band comes into contact with the desk while typing at a keyboard. I even received a replacement from Apple, and the new band has worn in the same way. I love the band itself and how it looks, but the durability is extremely disappointing.

that's what i asked. my mom has the SGS and the one he brought out was the SBSS. i mentioned the glass asking that it was sapphire correct? he said yes and it's very scratch resistant. i told him to look at it and he was shocked as was another employee (apple rep maybe wearing an apple shirt).
That's strange. One can only hope that was an anomaly and just a defective watch.

I bought mine in June, and as seen, I have been rough on my watch (42mm SGS). After my first scratch I said, "screw it, I got Applecare+" and bang it every day (clumsy). I also work around a lot of metal, so that doesn't help.
Battery life is still just as good as when new, despite being charged overnight each day.
Except for being slow at times, it still works great and reliable.

Out of interest why do you shave your arms?

I've had my SS Apple Watch for just over a year now, and I have not babied it in the least. I've worn it doing yard work (mowing lawn, planting, fixing sprinklers), cutting up trees with chainsaws, doing electrical work around the house, daily chores, office work, etc. The screen is as perfect as the day I got it. The steel body does gather minor scratches, but I've always been able to polish them out with no problems.
