Great price, no trolling here, seriously.

Profit for apple and exclusivity for everyone and the looks people owning a gold watch will get. Seriously, I love this. The next few iterations of apple watch in the coming years are going to be interesting.

Anyone getting the gold? Or seriously considering it?

Low end rolex' now have some competition. :D

If you think $10,000 is too much for an Apple Watch, then you're not the kind of person who should buy a $10,000 Apple Watch....This is a fashion accessory for those who don't worry about money.

The amount of people I have seen complaining about it already is quite ridiculous. It's not meant for probably almost every person who posts here. It's like going to a football game and complaining about the suite prices. You bought a ticket on the 40 yard line in the stands. The suites are made to separate much richer people from their money faster.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a gold watch wearing hand punching a human face — forever.

Don't forget it will be outdated next year when the new model comes out unlike a nice swiss watch. a 10-20K electronic watch makes no sense to me.

Shouldn't this be $16,999.99?

I literally JUST learned about this today in my Marketing class. Its called Psychological Pricing, although its never actually been proven. Anyway, when it comes to lower end stuff, 9.99 seems significantly cheaper than 10.00, or 24.99 vs 25.00. When it comes to higher priced stuff, such as this, People don't care about "the savings." There seems to be exclusivity with the higher prices.

If I was to EVER spend 10K or more on a watch, it would be a Rolex, pure and simple. And I am never gonna spend 10K on any watch.

I like my Casio Pathfinder PAW-1500 that I currently use and did not pay retail for.

I think $10K for an heirloom quality watch is a good investment. Omega, Rolex, etc....these things hold their value.

$10K for an Apple watch that will be replaced by a newer model within a year, and with tech that will make this thing totally obsolete and almost unusable for all but telling the time within 5 years? Nope. Its a disposable watch for those with very disposable income. Nothing more.

People will buy it. Paying so much for an item that will be out of date in two years is a big part of it. People who buy this will make sure that you see it.

gold buckles?

$2800 of gold in the 42mm with yellow gold at todays prices

Ok. So let's say for argument's sake, there is $4000 worth of gold in that band. They are charging $3000 more??? I'm sorry, this is just nuts to be honest. Anyone who will pay these prices for a tech gadget is a fool. This is not an heirloom. It is not something that will be relevant in 3 years much less 30 or 40 like the other $10000+ watches out there.

Maybe it worked for some people back in seventies or eighties when they introduced the xx.99 pricing. Now it just looks stupid. How typical is it to hear someone say "that item costs nine dollars and ninety-nine cents" rather than "that item costs ten dollars/bucks".

I agree that it wasn't really necessary to announce pricing in the keynote, but everyone needs to cool it with the complaining. This isn't meant to be bought by the watch collector who buys Rolex, B&M etc. It's for those who have extremely disposable income, that they spend (think celebrities/athletes, not Warren Buffett). They spend triple this on any given weekend at the bar., and 10-20x on that in special weekends. What's $10-$17k for something every year or two? They make more than that on any given day.

People's discussion should be around the pricing of the sport and apple watch. Is $350-$1100 too much for you to spend on jewelry/fitness/phone accessory? That's the real question, not whether $10k-$17k is ridiculous or not.

Yeah, this watch is not for people who worry about money... But there's two kind of rich: Dumb artists and people who actually know the value of money and wouldn't invest on something like this.

I can't picture say, Carlos Slim or Bill Gates with an Apple Watch, Kim Kardashian on the other hand...

Hate her or not, Kim K. isn't dumb. She made $40 million simply on her recent app alone. Buying a gold watch for $15K is like buying an extra value meal for you, I'd imagine.

I can't help but think they made a mistake on the gold, I know a lot of people who would have got the gold, but now will not even be interested in one. They said the gold was the only one that looked good enough for an event or night out, but they weren't going over 3k.

To me I don't care, I'll take the sport now.

Or style....

And it's not going to be just $10,000 though, is it?

No-one will spend that on a gold watch, and leave a rubber sports strap on it, surely??!

They're going to want that matching rose leather strap with the rose gold buckle....

Just an extra $7000.

(Or if you're in the UK, £5500 = $8300 at today's rate.)

EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS....... for a strap!!!!!!
