PumaCode provides us with a tidbit of regarding upcoming OS X releases. He reports that the next update of Mac OS X will be OS X 10.1.4 and should be coming "very soon now".

...while Mac OS X 10.2 should not be expected before Summer of 2002.

PumaCode had previously predicted the Security Update #2 for Mac OS X by a few days.

Interpret as maybe a OSX.1.4 at WWDC to keep people ticking over until MWNY when they preview OSX.2??

Never?!?!

System 6.0.4
System 6.0.5

And even if those updates didn't exist I still don't see the logic in your statement.

I'dd say if the 10.1.4. is 10.2 that we have been discussing lately (those great improved features), then I don't mind:D

Exactly. Apple's going to try and keep people happy by stringing them along. It'll be interesting to see what OSX.1.4 has to offer.

it would just seem the logical way to go to me.....

OSX.1.4 could have alot of improvements over the current OS, but I just have the feeling that Apple are holding back to really give everything at MWNY....

As far as I know, there *was* a 10.0.4. So yes, there have been many 0.0.4 releases.

I was expecting it at MWNY anyway. No big deal.

Plus we get an update to tide us over. Super-!!

Given X.y.z

In the past when Apple has bumped the 'z' part of an OS release it's been due to either minor bug fixes that couldn't wait for the next 'y' bump or new hardware support. Some rumors sites report new laptops and that might just explain it... or it could just be some house cleanup (bugs etc) that couldn't wait till the 10.2 release. MWNY is far enough away that 10.1.4 could just be an Apple 'spring cleaning' release.

Not what most wanna hear but I'll bet pretty close to the truth.

10.2, 10.1.4, to be honest I don't care what number they give updates so long as they do the job and Photoshop 7 arrives very soon.

I second that, allthough I'd like to see "spring folders" in OSX.whatever soon. Ah and yes, when does GoLive 6 ship?

Hey, fixes are fixes. Improvements are improvements.

Who cares what the version number is. Bring it on!

I was really disappointed in the 10.1.3 update. It seemed to have made things worse. It seems like we all noticed huge improvements in the 10.0.* chain but 10.1.* hasn't done much. But maybe, this update will stop those stupid pauses I get on iTunes Visualizations!

I noticed...

...nothing in the 10.0.x chain. 10.1.x has done a few (very few) visible things on my machine. 10.1 was incredible though, IE went from 28 bounces to 2-3 bounces.

PS 7 release rumor

As for the release date of Photoshop 7, a person mentioned that he has a buddy at Adobe and PS 7 might start shipping the middle of next week.

I'm not entire sure how reliable any of that information is, but it is a whole lot more than even the Adobe site mentions. I'm kind of irritated by all of these signs and messages which claim 'the wait is over'. That is like saying it's Christmas even though it is only December 20th.

ps7 + 10.1.4

macwarehouse says ps7 ships on april 19

what if you don't install 10.1.3 and then install 10.1.4, do you get the benefits (so to speak) of 10.1.3? sorry if i'm naive, but i've been out of touch for a while. heck i'm still using 8.6 on a 8500/120! but i just did get new quicksilver 2002 but can't use it yet.

Since 10.2 will not be around for a while, then let's go with the 10.1.4 update.

I am looking forward for Apple to fix the problem with dial-up net service.

each update builds upon the improvements made in the previous version. So any improvements in 10.1.3 will also be there in 10.1.4 (or whatever they release next).
