Dark mode looks good, works probably best with retina screens, but it would really make sense to me, if it would be made dynamic like the desktop picture and changes along with daylight.

Not sure if its meant to stay dark during daytime hours. MBP 2012 13"

Kinda odd they haven't done this considering they've gone to the trouble of putting together that nice dynamic wallpaper system.

I suspect it's Apple being Apple and not wanting users to experience what I would imagine would be a quite jarring effect of the UI suddenly changing from one state to another. They'd probably want to set it up to fade in and out which I doubt would be trivial to implement.

would be nice if dark mode / light mode had a per app switch... I like dark mode, pretty cool, but some things aren't working yet for me... like Safari -- favorites look cool etc... but you can't avoid a very common white page when browsing... then I like light mode Safari better. Mail i'm not sure yet... works when your emails aren't HTML and a white page, when you get the white pages they seem to be too glaring for the dark chrome.

anyway no complaints... I like that apple is trying this out.

As far as I know the dynamic wallpapers won't work yet in dark mode you have to have light mode on as well as location services

Dynamic wallpaper works very well over here, in the morning sunlight comes from the right hand side, in the evening from the left. If now the dark mode could be linked to Nightshift mode eventually.... ;)

I suggest you drop them this feature request in the feedback application provided with every beta installation.

have wanted the dark mode for a long time; not sure it works all that well, at least... not used to it yet. feels... claustrophobic in places. and, on my macbook, i had to go back to the default resolution; find it harder to read fonts when they're smaller (i was running 'more space' in the display option).

but will give it some time...

I used the DB1 for 2 days in dark mode, I noticed it actually started to strain my eyes a lot more and I get you what you mean by "claustrophobic in places", I had to switch back to light mode, the classic look is still the best imo.

the apps (like mail), feel more like i have 'invert colors' on, than a 'dark theme'.... (but am giving it some time, to see if i adapt... or not)...

So far it appears that Dark Mode wasn't gone through very thoroughly by the graphics folks at Apple. For instance, in Messages, if the last message in a conversation is long enough to fill the width (and maybe wrap down to the next line), the 'x' for deleting the conversation is almost invisible. Or, check the dialog box for Software Update in System Preferences. The "OK" button is dark and the text for "OK" is black ! Ooops, someone forgot to 'flip' the color to something contrasting.

my 'ok' button is yellow (my highlight color), and the 'ok' text is white. maybe try changing up your highlight color, see if that fixes it...

I thought that’s how the dynamic wallpaper worked. Strange.

On iOS12 the iBooks app goes from light to dark automatically based on time of day. And I’m it talking about inside an actual book, but inside the app with the book store and book catalog.

Tested it again. The dynamic wallpaper works as advertised. But its not linked to the Finders light/dark mode or the nightshift settings. At least for now.

The wallpaper on mine doesn't work in dark mode, I will switch to light mode today to see if it works

I'll try that. Thing is, users shouldn't have to change it just to make it usable. Those color options should be just that, "options". The default setting should .... "just work".

and it does, here. you're having a minor issue, this isn't the default behavior. plus, remember this is an early beta.....

Everyone's going to be different, imo, first thoughts on dark mode were, not for me, then I tried it for awhile and liked it, and got excited about it... now after a couple of weeks, I think what I really want is light mode with dark menu and dark dock ---er... I guess I just kind of prefer "dark mode" in high sierra. When mojave comes out, I do think I'll go to dark mode to see if I can get used to it full time.

Love it or hate it. Whatever your preference is. That's why it's in Preferences.

Due to my vision, I happen to love it. No, it's not 100% perfect but workable for me.

Hope y'all figure what you like and don't. And then, please don't whine.

On or Off. Dig it?
