As the new Mac Pros will require 10.5.2 for the new graphics cards, and will be shipping in 24-48 hours, I assume that they are shipping with 10.5.2 installed. Therefore, expect to see the new system update come across System Update any minute.

I really, really hope you're right... 10.5.1 is annoying as h***. 10.5.0 was a rock.

Now, on the other hand, the MPs could just be version of 10.5.1 including the proper drivers. AFAIR, Apple has earlier released hardware-specific versions of OS X.

It may not be as soon as you think since people are saying that when you upgrade the graphics card it delays the shipping to a couple weeks.

Just for the record, there are many of us out here who have very stable 10.5.1 systems. Mail.app has stability problems, but other than that my system is pretty rock solid in terms of stability. For me the only problem with upgrading has been stacks and airport, but other than those 2 problems my upgrade to leopard has been all positive.

Me too. I bought a 24" iMac with Leopard and an external FW drive for Time Machine and I've only had very minor problems.
Leopard, love it.

do you think we could see the update by tonight?

until now i thought it would happen during mwsf08

Personally that's what I think will happen. I could be wrong though.

I'd love to see it come out as soon as possible though.

Nah,

My guess is they're shipping with a tailor-made Leopard with code for the SSE4 instruction set, and most of the goodies from 10.5.2 (well, at least the GPU kexts).

10.4.10 came out a week after WWDC '07. Jobs wants no surprises before he has to make a big speech.

so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Would they really go thru all that trouble (which probably isnt really any at all) just so they wouldnt have to realease the 10.5.2 update a week sooner?

As Peace said, it's probably got references to hardware being released at MWSF in it which would constitute a pretty major leak!

10.5.2 will come at MacWorld like updates often do

Maybe if 10.5.2 is released in 24-48 hours and not next week, then there'll be more room for MWSF goodies. 🙄

looks like we will have more room for goodies at MWSF! 😱

just kidding! ;-)

I don't know where you got that screenshot but, anyone can change the SystemVersion.plist file to read "10.5.2" in System/Library/CoreServices/ ... sorry... that is not convincing to me.

Edit: And wouldn't they change the years to 1983-2008?
