Looking likely considering it comes directly from an Apple employee. Nice find. :)

By the looks of the nightly builds of safari which have seemingly been frozen at the same for a few days now. The chances of a new safari 4 beta build is highly possible.

Bring on 10.5.7 and whatever other updates are needed all is welcome here.

Hooray. This is what it says on the X11 installer.
Maybe tomorrow?

What do you folks think is more likely:

1) That Apple will release 10.5.7 tomorrow (Friday)?
-or-
2) We'll have to keep waiting a few more weeks?

What is your reason for your opinion on this matter?

Thanks for any feedback. :)

There are a couple of threads discussing this.

They may give you more GUESSING, because at this point that's all it is. A guessing game! This X11 update looks promising but who knows... may be one day, may be 2 weeks!

So what are users of safari 4 beta supposed to do? Revert back first?

It's only the Safari 4 installer that wont work on 10.5.7 as it checks for 10.5.6. No doubt they'll release a new installed for Safari 4. It doesn't even need to be a new build of Safari 4, just needs to be updated to install on 10.5.7.

I suspect it will come out with Safari 4 built in. Like the betas of 10.5.7

I don't think so.

Everyone:

Safari 4 works just as it did in 10.5.7. I've used it, it works. If you guys think its a bug you're crazy, it just blows my mind.

Check out what it says from the seed notes:

Known Issues
- Safari 4 Beta only installs on Mac OS X 10.5.6.

The keyword is "Beta". I'll let the brilliant minds figure out the puzzle.

If you're implying that Safari 4 final is going to be released with 10.5.7, I really hope you're joking. Safari 4 will be released with Snow Leopard.

I'm new at this game, but considering previous dot releases have been on Mondays, I'd place bets on tomorrow (also the last Monday in April), especially given the X11 evidence.

As for Safari, I still think they just don't want you installing beta software on beta software, because that's a debugging nightmare. When 10.5.7 goes live they'll probably do a new release of Safari 4 Beta that does work on it.

Was it documented somewhere by Apple explicitly saying Safari 4 will be released with Snow Leopard?
I am just curious because I saw many people claim that but never see the actual proof directly from Apple.
Their SL webpage didn't mention "Safari 4" at all. (Did mention Safari though.)

In this (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/06/09snowleopard.html) released last year, the implication is pretty clear that Safari 4 will debut with Snow Leopard. However, depending on your point of view, that could also mean that it will simply come with SL, rather than debut with it.

I think though, that it would make much more sense to debut Safari 4 with Snow Leopard to at least get some media attention, considering there aren't *that* many new features in SL. :)

Thanks. I guess it depends on how you interpret it then. Well, either way, can't wait for SL.

Safari 4 did debut with SL's first build when it was introduced at WWDC. It was styled exactly like Safari 3. I don't really see Safari 4 being a huge feature of Snow Leopard for Apple to really show off . Then again, I've known to be wrong before. :p

I hope that 10.5.7 comes out today. I am ready for a fresh install on my new OCZ Vertex 250GB (Firmware 1.10)

And I dont want to do it until I can download the 10.5.7 Combo Updater :)

Edit: Also, to the above posters about Safari 4 Beta, I think we will see a new Beta build when 10.5.7 comes out too. IMHO, Safari 4 Final will debut with Snow Leopard.
