Just four days after the last developer seed, Apple has released yet another version of OS X 10.5.7 to developers. The new seed, designated Build 9J50, contains only a single documented fix related to Bluetooth networking. World of Apple republishes the seed notes, revealing the extensive list of changes made throughout the series of developer seeds and noting that the inability to install Safari 4 Beta remains the only documented known issue.

The increased pace of developer releases and the small number of changes in each iteration suggest that work on OS X 10.5.7 is wrapping up and that a public release should be expected in the near future.

What's the deal with not supporting Safari 4? Will a new build of Safari be needed before the update, or be included in it?

My guess is the Safari 4 remains in Beta while 10.5.7 gets pushed out.

I would have thought it would be released w/ Snow Leopard. It's a bit intensive and some of the new technology in that release might help performance.

Also, I guess 10.5.7 is released on Tuesday.

10.5.1 = Thursday release
10.5.2 = Monday release
10.5.3 = Wednesday release
10.5.4 = Monday release
10.5.5 = Monday release
10.5.6 = Monday release

My guess is that it will be available on Monday.

I hope . . .

I hope the video drivers in this release will allow use of the 4870 on older Mac Pros (even if not officially supported). I've read some things that indicate that may be possible.

Woah! Talk about... Ahead of schedule.

Let's hope the developers are working hard... I HATE bugs.

How do you figure it's ahead of schedule? We've been expecting this for a while now based on how quickly new builds were being seeded. Or were you thinking of 10.6?

Still safari 4? It's embarrassing not being able to install and how it handles some animated gifs. It's 2009 for God's sake.

I hope that 10.5.7 will only increase the performance of my soon to be shipped 24in iMac 3.06 ATI4850.

Orginally I had thought that the delay in shipping was due to it needing 10.5.7, but apparently there are a few who have already received them with 10.5.6 as the default

The fact that mixing beta releases of important software increases the chances of your test machine experiencing a horrible horrible crash while decreasing their chances of getting useful bug reports from the aforementioned crash?

Just Leopard ?

So this is just Leopard right because snow leopard will be 10.6 ? Tiger took updates to 10.4.11 so i guess there are still more Leopard updates on the horizon.

Mac OS X 10.5 is going to be so perfect, nobody will buy Snow Leopard! 🙂 lol
Jokes. But I don't see many flaws with 10.5 really, apart from stacks. And the fact i want 3d desktops compulsory, don't know why. Just do. lol

I predict it comes out on Tuesday, April 20.

The development cycle for OS X updates fall outside of their normal "release it on Tuesday" product cycle. Besides, the 20th is a Monday.

Classy icon, btw. /sarcasm

QFT. Some people on this site have no clue.

There have been 12 Monday OS X updates, 9 on Tuesday, 10 on Wednesday, 7 on Thursday, 4 on Friday, and 1 on Saturday (the very first one - 10.0.1).

I guess based on the historical pattern the odds decrease as we get later in the week. 🙄
