Unless Apple has a surprise product up their sleeve, I very much doubt this event will be "awe dropping". No one does hype more than Apple though. I'd just like a backlit magic keyboard and a mouse that is function over form. A stripped down larger Studio display would be great as well (imo). No speakers, no camera, just a great screen at an "affordable" price. Hey, a person can dream!
You can get a Magic Keyboard with a backlit keyboard. Buy the iPad Pro.

Not a lot here. Hopefully they’re keeping something under wraps, but next year sounds like a bigger upgrade year for people who want a foldable device or smaller Dynamic Island.

If the regular Pro doesn’t get the telephoto upgrades I don’t think I will upgrade using the iPhone upgrade program. My daughter will be going into 7th grade next year and I could give this 16 Pro to her paid off. I told her she can get an iPhone when she will be turning 13. Some of her friends have had an iPhone since kindergarten or first grade. 13 is already ridiculous to me, as I didn’t even get a cell phone until I was 14 and it was a very basic Nokia brick, but times are changing. Otherwise I’ll just get her the newer SE that’s coming.

Eh, yeah, that’s just kinda how it is nowadays. I got my first brick phone when I was 16 but that was 2002. Had that phone until I got the first iPhone in 2007, have been 100% Team iPhone ever since :)

My oldest just turned 13 and started 8th grade, she got her first phone in 5th grade when we started letting her venture out into our neighborhood alone to visit friends. I plan to do the same with my first grader who turns 7 next month; she constantly asks me when she can have a phone, and I keep telling her, 5th grade. But this kid has an iPad (with time limits) so I promise she’s not neglected 😂

I guess I’m just not a parent who is terrified of technology. I don’t want to raise luddites who hit 18 and are suddenly faced with an entire digital world with absolutely no skills to help them safely navigate it. I’ve never just handed them a device and set them loose—there has always been active parenting and monitoring with it, just being aware of and involved with their usage. I know “not every middle schooler has a cell phone” but… honestly? Most do.

Do you know that many of us has safely navigated from a world without Internet, when we were already adults, to today's technological landscape and yet we gained the skills as tech evolved, without any problems?

Looking forward to seeing the 17 Pro Max. Hopefully the zoom lens will have at least 5x capability. Upgrade to the front facing camera will be great. Waiting for the Apple event!!

the only thing that would cause me to upgrade is if apple added that 8* zoom. Might consider the orange in that case instead of my usual black type colour. As for the ultra 3 I tried an Amazfit watch and it battery life was better period and it gave away little in accuracy.

Given the trade in prices I’m seeing I am no longer interested in throwing good money away. I usually buy the top of the line pro max fully loaded. There’s too much competition. Tbh if I could get my hands on an oppo with the amazing camera I save 500-600 gbp and buy that and use some really good antivirus anti snooping software. I also have a big issue with ai. I use it a lot for some things and am well aware of its shortcomings and in spite of the fact that social media tells me I’m missing out on a it when I try the things they mention i usually find I’m thinking ok so that’s fun (once) and it hasn’t saved me much time at all and oh then it makes a mistake and costs me more than it ever saved me. It’s like all these processes that are being automated with ai. The reason most do them aren’t resulting in real positive returns is because most for ehm could be dispensed with altogether.

I realise too that most people won’t agree with me but I object to stuff being summarised for me by google. Give me the choice. If I want to trawl through links myself and actually use my brain then let me. I shudder to think of how quality and thinking is decaying in the general public. I’m already seeing awful mistakes at work. I predict further ******tification of our society.

I like the idea of the folding phones but see too much about the delicate screens. When they’re as solid as my slab and can have a screen protector put on I’ll be in.

So boring. Ten years ago manufacturers were throwing everything at the plate. Now that there are only a few left, they, especially Apple and Samsung, are nickle and diming. They literally can’t be bothered to make flagships with every possible feature because why should they when mediocrity will still be lapped up. Same old small batteries, same small camera sensors, same slow charging, same stupid big holes on screens, crap keyboards, lack of proper multitasking, lack of file access - they’re just digging their own graves.

Still rocking a 14 pro max. Never been this far behind new models and still unsure about upgrading. The early days of innovation and new releases were awesome, not so much now. Think I may hang to the 18. We’ll see!
