first of all, one of the more interesting threads in a long time :)

meat, but usually not red meat for obvious reasons, plus my age, 40-something
rice slightly over pasta but both are good
veggies are more versatile, but candy is more fun but i pick the former
wine but it's usually more expensive
fizzy drink since it settles stomach, like, he he, beer
books since they are more educational
tv since i like to relax and not think too much sometimes
socks, as much as i can get away with it
cook at home since eating out has the hassles of the general public staring at you
club, since there are drinks there as well as live music (hopefully)

1. Meat or cheese? Meat, even though I rarely eat it, just the odd bit of chicken. Love cheese but I get the wierdest dreams after eating it.
2. Rice or pasta? Rice, even like it on its' own.
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy? Vegetables. Love them.
4. Wine or beer? Wine.
5. Water or fizzy drink? Hate fizzy drinks.
6. Books or DVDs? Books. I'd give away my computer before I'd give up books.
7. Radio or TV? Radio. I never watch television.
8. Shoes or socks? Shoes. I wear sandals all year round, have to be able to wiggle my toes. Don't own any socks.
9. Restaurant or cook at home? Cook at home.
10. Bar or club? Bar. Like to be able to converse without yelling.

1. Meat: chicken, beef, pork... mmm-mmm.

3. Vegetables: candy is bad for you!
4. Beer: I brew some of my own.
5. Water: Hate fizzy drinks, besides beer. :)
6. Books: Hard choice, but there are fewer DVDs that I would watch continuously over and over.
7. TV: They play the same thing over and over on the radio... that's what my iPod is for. :)
8. Shoes: More functional. You couldn't hike over rocks with just socks.
9. Cook at Home: I like to cook more anyways.
10. Bar: Don't like clubs.

1. Meat. Cheese gives me migraines.
2. Rice. Pasta makes me feel bloated.
3. Vegetables. If I don't, I have toilet troubles.
4. Franzia
5. Water. Fizzy drink gives me terrible stomach ache.
6. Laserdisc? I've got a huge collection of those.
7. TV. I'm addicted to Judge Mathis.
8. Neither.
9. 350? 450? What do these numbers mean?
10. Bar. Can't drink as much if I'm dancing around.

Bar or club? WTF?

It's Saturday night in the UK and we're all on MR. :p
And I'm doing some work as well... extremely sad. :(

Heh - I'm not even doing work. I'm drawing smileys for MR, for no reason at all. Now that's sad.

I am drinking a rather fine Shiraz, though. :) And anyway, Friday and Saturday nights are for amateurs. The week is where it's at. ;)

I have a bottle of 2001 Ridge Zinfandel breathing as we speak. ;)

1. Meat or cheese? - this was a hard one!
2. Rice or pasta? - pasta can be made in so many different ways :)
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy? - hmmm, overweight and toothless or fit and denture-less? :p
4. Wine or beer? - more choice, more "versatile"
5. Water or fizzy drink? - this one's a no-brainer IMHO
6. Books or DVDs? - again, a no-brainer
7. Radio or TV? - TV on the whole is cr@p
8. Shoes or socks? - what good are socks w/o shoes
9. Restaurant or cook at home? - one gets tired of eating out (in a restaurant that is).
10. Bar or club? - I'm not much of a dancer...

How about another one:
11. Mac w/ Windows or PC w/ OS X?

Breathing?? But doesn't that mean you open it and then don't drink it straight away? ;)

Then again, my Shiraz, athough fine, did come from the corner shop for a fiver, and is most definitely not from 2001. 2006, probably. :D

1. Meat or cheese? Fish - healthier
2. Rice or pasta? Potatoes - thats what I call a staple.
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy? Fruit. Including peas, beans and tomatoes (cos they are fruit)
4. Wine or beer? Whisky
5. Water or fizzy drink? Tea. With milk and sugar
6. Books or DVDs? Magazines
7. Radio or TV? Aquarium screensaver. So much more intellectually stimulating than Big Brother.
8. Shoes or socks? Wellington boots. Or nothing in the summer.
9. Restaurant or cook at home? Mobile fish and chip van (it comes to me)
10. Bar or club?Pub. A real English pub. Not a theme pub. Not a bloody restaurant. Just a normal pub. The sort you can't find anymore.

Christmas present, luv. $10 is about the most I ever spend.

1. Meat: love white meat!
2. pasta: favourite food. Will go with rice easily, but theres more with rice! (if ya get what I mean!)
3. sweets/candy: I don't want it to be this, but realistically, its gonna be!
4. beer: love a nice pint of beer. I hardly drink but I do like a nice big pint of Pedigree (the brewery for this is in my home town!) or Spitfire...mmmm.
5. Water: Simple, cheap, effective, healthy, easy!!...
6. DVDs: On demand, what you want to watch, when.
7. TV: I like to use all my senses, I need to visualise what Im hearing!
8. Shoes: I'd like to put socks, for comfort, but for the sake of being prepared to go outdoors Id say shoes.
9. cook at home: More intemate, and probably cheaper. I love restuarants, but can be costly!
10. Bar: Prefer friendly local familyl bars to nightclubs. They are less smokey and you can really get to know the staff their better.

I had a bottle of Grenache Shiraz... very good it was too. I was going to open a bottle of Sauvignon but with the meatballs & pasta (see, I've broken my promise of eating rice already), the Shiraz was more appropriate.

Ooh, yeah, anything with tomatoes and pasta and meat does deserve a Shiraz. This one is spicy. Mmm.

guess i can play along:

1. Meat or cheese? Cheese i suppose. the only meat i love is chicken.
2. Rice or pasta? Pasta. so yummy.
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy? Veggies. as long as they are crisp its all good.
4. Wine or beer? Wine.
5. Water or fizzy drink? Water. no soda for me ever. i gave it up this year.
6. Books or DVDs? Books, duh.
7. Radio or TV? Neither.
8. Shoes or socks? Shoes or barefoot
9. Restaurant or cook at home? Cook at home.
10. Bar or club? Neither. i'm a homebody.

Just get some decent rice based pasta :D

Meat, cheese and pasta for me tonight (pan fried lasagna) :D

D

1. Meat or cheese? Meat. It gives me less of a stomach ache and I don't like any cheese in block form.
2. Rice or pasta?Pasta. I can be creative with it.
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy?Candy but I do love corn.
4. Wine or beer?Beer if I must.
5. Water or fizzy drink?Nowadays it's water.
6. Books or DVDs?DVDs (because any book I read right now is a textbook)
7. Radio or TV?TV. Radio has far too many ads now.
8. Shoes or socks?Shoes aka flip flops. Because I am lazy.
9. Restaurant or cook at home?Cook at home. Cheaper and better for me.
10. Bar or club?Bar. I can wrap my hands around it better and probably do more damage. A club is so caveman like.

1. Meat or cheese?
Cheese. I have meat sometimes but it is not my favorite and
I loooove cheese.
2. Rice or pasta?
Rice, as long as it is cooked the way I want it.
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy?
Vegetables - That is tough but Veggies because they are better for me as was said earlier
4. Wine or beer?
I like Wine better so that is easy - Wine.
5. Water or fizzy drink?
Fizzy drink - Is Carbonated Water OK?
6. Books or DVDs?
Books - since I can't always have access to a DVD player and I ride public
transportation a lot.
7. Radio or TV?
TV - That is very difficult since I love both and listen to the radio all the time.
But I would have to choose TV, I can't imagine living without my soap opera
or figure skating on TV
8. Shoes or socks?
Socks
9. Restaurant or cook at home?
Restaurant - I don't cook much.
10. Bar or club?
Bar. I am not crazy about clubs.

1. Meat or cheese? Cheese. Meat substitutes, and meaty vegetables are much better than soy cheese. That's not cheating is it?
2. Rice or pasta? Rice. If I want pasta, rice noodles. That's not cheating is it?
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy? Vegetables. I'm too fat already. Sweets for the rest of my life would significantly shorten that period.
4. Wine or beer? I'm underage, but I'd guess I'd choose beer. Never had either but my dad tells me Rockstar tastes a bit like beer and i looove the taste of Rockstar.
5. Water or fizzy drink? Do Bawls, Rockstar, etc. count as fizzy drinks? That's a hard choice then. I'd probably have to go with water, though, for the same reason as #3, and just stick to NoDoze. Plus I recently discovered Glaceau smartwater. I was amazed to find it tastes like NOTHING. It's so awesome. Every other water I've had has had some taste, but NONE is really, really cool.
6. Books or DVDs? DVDs. I could (and do) read books I download as PDF files on Limewire. That's not cheating is it? Plus I'm more of a movie person.
7. Radio or TV? TV. I can multitask better with the tv on. I tend to look at the radio while listening to it, except for in the car, and I can pay attention just fine to the tv without looking.
8. Shoes or socks? I normally wear flip-flops with socks  but I'd be just fine without the socks.
9. Restaurant or cook at home? Restaurant. My mom's a lousy cook, and so am I. I need to learn from my grandma. Her cooking kicks ass.
10. Bar or club?
Science club.

edit: i just realized i copied jessica.'s style (red/black) without even noticing. sorry

1. Cheese - love meat, but I put cheese on/in everything - as a student I live off toasted cheese sandwiches.

2. Rice - again, love pasta also, but rice is far more versatile and can more easily replace pasta.

3. Sweets/candy - I eat lots of veggies but I think I'd die without chocolate.

4. Wine - just don't really like beer (what sort of Aussie am I?)

5. Water - its the best.

6. Books - couldn't go without, plus I would d/l movies from iTunes (maybe one day)

7. TV - I only listed to the radio in the car, so that can be replaced with cds/iPod.

8. Shoes - they protect your feet more and look better.

9. Cook at home - I LOVE to cook, though eating out is nice occasionally too.

10. Bar - you can talk to people.

11. Mac w/Windows, with an OS X hack.:D

Great thread Lau! ;)

Ok, so you can only eat/have/do/go to one of these things from each question for the rest of your life. I know this isn't feasible, and you can pick a million holes in it, but it's am interesting way to learn about each other.

Which do you choose? Post your answer to each one, and one sentence why.

1. Meat or cheese?
2. Rice or pasta?
3. Vegetables or sweets/candy?
4. Wine or beer?
5. Water or fizzy drink?
6. Books or DVDs?
7. Radio or TV?
8. Shoes or socks?
9. Restaurant or cook at home?
10. Bar or club?

By the way - this shouldn't turn into a political discussion about vegetarianism or the evils of alcohol, or anything else. If you prefer cheese because you're vegetarian, say "Cheese - because I'm vegetarian". However, if you don't agree with someone's reason, please don't have a go at them - that's why they do it, and that's fine. You can feel free to respond with "Meat - because I'm not a vegetarian and cheese is gross". Okay?

Play nice with each other. :)

First off, excellent idea for a thread. Here's my answers;

1. Meat - I enjoy both, but I could go without cheese if I had to, but not meat.

2. Pasta - I really like pasta, I like wild rice, but not very many other varieties, so I'll stick with pasta.

3. Vegetables - When at school I'd always buy vegetables, but hardly had the budget for sweets, and I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

4. Beer - I prefer spirits, but I'd take a beer over a glass of wine any day.

5. Water - I need water to mix my ice tea concentrate into.

6. DVDs - I love my HP books, but I can't say the same about other books.

7. TV - I only listen to the radio for music, and I can do all that in iTunes.

8. Socks - I have to have socks (I've ruined too many pairs of shoes going barefoot), so if I'm wearing shoes, socks first.

9. Cook at home - Budget constraints, and I'm pretty good in the kitchen too.

10. Bar - .. because I don't really have the moves on the dance floor ;)

wild rice isn't actually rice, so you could have that even with pasta.
