Honestly most boring update ever nothing worth installing it for, why do you need to airplay music to it when you can just play music on the Mac music app
Oftentimes I am on my bed or couch browsing on the phone then I want to play some music or a video and wish for stronger speakers than on the phone. I could go get my bluetooth speaker, turn it on, wait for it to connect, and then play. But now I can just airplay to the Mac -- the speakers are good enough, at least better than the phone. This is just one of many scenarios where airplay might be useful.

but then you are tying up your phone airplaying to your mac. much better if worked as a remote like it does using your phone for playing music on an appletv or homepod with their own tiles and them handling playing... kind of like how spotify connect works.
I don’t know if you’ve used airplay before, but you can do other stuff on your phone while airplaying, even if it’s video being streamed. That’s the beauty of airplay.

Airplay for Mac works just as well as airplay for tv.

Ok, so airplay from my phone to Mac point blank doesn’t work. iPhone 13 pro updated to 15.1 and 2017 macbook pro.

Options to airplay to apple tv, but no option to the Mac. Anyone else had an issue?

There’s only one feature in Monterey that I’m interested in - the Shortcuts App. Finally we’ll be able to control a HomeKit smart socket to turn the battery charger Off & On automatically at our desired set point.

I have a 2019 16" loaded to the max MBP, Big Sur made my life a living hell with constant panic CPU shut downs, memory corruptions I would have to reboot 3-4 times a day and this was on a fresh install....

So far so good on Monterrey, nice, quiet, no incidents all my apps work fine and no panic shut downs or reboots....Big Sur is my Vista.

Where is Office 2022 for Mac? It was suppose to be out Oct 5th along with the Windows Office 2022.

It seems not released.

I'm more interested in this than Monterey.

If Microsoft Kills Office for Mac there might not be a bright future for Apple ARM chips.

And it's funny how most people buying these 16" M1 MAX laptops all say for Final Cut Pro or Video Editing.

Seems thats all people buy a Mac for these days. Final Cut Pro or Logic X
Office 2021 for Mac was released October 12. Version number is 16.54.
If you are on lifetime license, you need a new one for Office to show the new UI. If you have a 2019 license it would show as before, even when on 16.54.

So I don't get how AirPlay to Mac works on the 2017 12 inch MacBook but not the 2017 15 inch MacBook pro. I have both and tested with apple fitness+ from my phone to the 12 inch MacBook, works great. You would think the more powerful machine could better handle it

"
If you place your cursor in the very bottom right corner of the display, a little note icon will pop up." this is not true as written. Quick notes are a setting for hot corners under desktop and screen saver. You can have it in any of the corners, or turned off if you use hot corners for something else

I would say it is more intended for audio from a phone call or something

Very curious if AirPlay allows for the following, situation:
- launching up a conference call via zoom/discord/teams/etc-your-cup-of-tea
- share the screen to show some stuff
- AirPlay part: start airplay from the phone to the Mac but since the screen is being shared I would be able to show the phone contents in this case broadcast to others.

Use case: sometimes while doing dev I need to show how something looks or is advancing on the device and it’s a bit annoying… it’s rarely critical but when it is I end up recording the screen and either airdropping the file or sending it from the phone to a person interested in following up.
The “professional” way currently is via some HDMI input console like BM’s ATEM Mini which I don't have currently.

Also intrigued by Shortcuts, they don’t seem that mass adopted just yet but some stuff I have seen are quite the self contained mini applications…
I learned lately about Compressor “Droplet” which a allows to open a small window that eats any video drag and drop-ed on it, spitting out all the compressed formats saved within that droplet. That feature plus tiny programs like Video Downloader, Audio Downloader, Archive, Unarchive, etc I happen to have, some could be probably better as native siri shortcuts if doable.

I've had the FaceTime to Adenoids feature in the beta iOS15. I tried to FaceTime my aunty last Sunday and when she didn't connect SMSed the FaceTime invitation link. Her audio message was, 'Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday and thanks for sending that to me, SurferPup. Love you'. For what I am about to say please, please don't attack me however the few relatives and friends that chose an Adenoids phone are not tech savvy.

I really like the Quick Notes feature, Live text, and most of all the erase of content and settings option. I have already used the latter option and it was awesome.
Live Text is interesting, isn't it. It's very subtle—you'd barely even know it was a newly added feature, until you open an image in Safari and then mouse over some text in an image. It must take a fair amount of processing power to OCR the text in displayed images on the fly like that. It does work on my MacBook Air 2020 Intel model, though.

Final Cut Pro or Logic X are fantastic apps on Macs, they run faster and do more for solo workflows that don’t require specific plugins. It’s no surprise they are mentioned so often. Plus they are dirt cheap compared to other solutions & Apple is good at updating them.
