If the user changes the visual component out of the box, it means that the UI is ****
Huh? I didn’t change to light mode for the frosted glass, I prefer the more glossy and transparent actually. I just showed light mode because that’s what their posted screenshot was

I just discovered that if you want to rearrange the menu bar it's not in menu bar settings, you have to go to control center settings. There's not even an option to rearrange or anything like that by right clicking on the menu bar itself. Why would a menu bar setting not be on the menu bar settings page if you're going to have a page for that? I don't understand how this kind of thing gets approved.

For balance: I think the interface looks fine on Mac. Looks better than it does on the iPhone. I also thought Vista was fine.
Wait, can you not rearrage the menu bar by holding option while clicking anymore?

And just about anything new that Apple releases is rarely assessed as useful or an improvement, and immediately panned. A forum tradition. iPod, iPhone, iPad, Watch... for example.

Though there have been a couple of products where that was justified. Apple iPod Sox, Apple HiFi, and Apple PowerMac G4 Cube come to mind. But those were released under the previous CEO.

Then again, the current CEO released the 18-Karat Gold (Apple Watch Edition)
Or announcing the AirPower but never released.

Have you tried having your Applications folder in your dock? It’s the best way to launch apps imo

That's the way it was since Rhapsody I believe, and always have kept it that way.

But I have faith that we’ll be in a good place by macOS 27 & if people really don’t like it, sequoia will get patches for the next year or so.

It's just that after Apple releases new Macs we won't be able to install a version older than MacOS 26.

My favorite feature is “disable OS updates”
That's what I should have done before I upgraded to 15.7. I didn't know that Safari 27.0 was part of this upgrade and that there was a possibility to deselect the Safari upgrade. Now I have got an awful favorites sidebar in Safari, that is nearly not usable! My intention of the upgrade was to get security fixes installed and to stay away from macOS Tahoe. Thanx Apple for this ********!

Filevault is turned on by default.
No option to disable.
Now I can't disable before everything is encrypted.

I´m not happy about that
There was a screen at the beginning. Luckily I was paying attention and did not just click okay to continue

Having no launchpad has so far stopped me updating. To those that have can I ask - is the spotlight replacement a good one?
It's good when you just want a list of apps in alpha order that you can filter by typing. It's in a window that's only resizable vertically, and it won't remember the size so that's kinda pointless. It's an alternative, not a substitution, the way the app drawer and home screen are two ways to get to your apps on iOS, but you wouldn't want to get rid of one for the other entirely

Have you tried enabling these in Accessibility:

reduce transparency
bold font
button shapes
increase contrast.

HUGE improvement IMHO.

.

I tried reduce transparency. It made desktop widgets harder to read. Instead of being see through (I choose the wallpaper carefully to make it work) it's frosted glass so you get white text on grey background, both ugly and hard to read

That's the problem with accessibility workaround. It doesn't necessarily just make things less aggressive, but goes aggressive in the other direction

Apple today filed a Safari update to 26.0.1. I was hoping for an improvement of the terrible favorites sidebar - but no, nothing has changed. :(

  • Folder Customization - You can assign colors to folders, and also add an emoji or character to help you better organize your files. Folders get a color tag, which is a useful way to group things together.
Am I the only one who doesn't understand how this is new? We've always been able to add colors to folders. You can do that in Mac OS 8.

Because there was no fix for Safari 26.0 in Sequoia 15.7 in sight, I took all my courage together and upgraded to Tahoe 26. Well, the now "Window-based" launchpad is absolute terrible. Safari under Tahoe has become a little bit better than it was under Sequoia, but the "old" Safari was much better in my opinion. It had a clean, professional and intuitive look in the favorites sidebar which is now gone. Is there any chance, Apple is fixing this with a possibility to switch back to the old look&feel?

I hesitate to update to Tahoe from Sequoia because candidly I don’t like the look of Tahoe. I upgrade my iPhone and iPad to iOS and iPad OS 26 and I don’t care for it. It looks and acts like juveniles designed it for juveniles rather than adults.
