I am surprised they still sell them at those price points considering most TVs have all of it built in nowadays. Mine is collecting dust since the new TV runs Android TV
lol, good on ya. I'd be doing the same thing as I'd want that wired ethernet connection...Yea, pulled the trigger on one myself. Im sure those 128gb of storage will come in handy for my 10 apps 😬! Best part, already found my 2021 Apple tv its forever home.
Power cable is nextYes and with charging cable as well.
This cutting corners…
Of course notI am going to assume this new AppleTV still doesn’t support audio passthrough?
....who games on these things anyway?
Can somebody tell me the point of the Apple TV? Genuine question.
We have a smart TV and it's just simpler to use its own apps for things like Netflix or Amazon Prime, rather than mess around switching HDMI input and booting-up the Apple TV (which we do have, albeit an older one).
If I want to watch Apple TV shows then I do so on my phone, or MacBook.
Just about the only reason I've ever seen anybody use an Apple TV is for beaming photos onto the big TV screen. But that's not exactly an everyday thing.
My wife and I play Apple Arcade games on ours from time to time. It is ok with the remote, best with a controller.I mean glad it got refreshed, but thats all this was. Even with having to pay more for ethernet, it's still cheaper than it was. This is a good thing. Don't know what anyone else expected. I also don't see point of storage on the Apple other than games maybe....who games on these things anyway?
For an Environmentally Conscience company that Apple is trying to market itself as, AppleTV is a wasteful product. Make it software based and license it to other tv manufacturers. Given that most tv’s come with GoogleTV/AndroidTV, Roku or WebOS built-in who is buying this wasteful device. Once iPhone goes USB-C people have the option of a HDMI connection. Can somebody tell me the point of the Apple TV? Genuine question.

I know... If you're already willing to pay $129, what's another $20 to get one with the ethernet port, more storage and Thread support? At $99 it'd be an option that more people would consider if they were price sensitive to $149.The new Apple TV should have stared with a price point of $99 with 64GB of storage. What's up with the $129 price point! Seems out of place.
I have a ShieldTV, lightening A/V dongle, NAS and a Mac. Someone convince me that I need an AppleTV. Does it have a web browser, how about the ability to load any apps outside the AppStore indefinitely, etc.Agree with that Mac Mini comment. I have an Apple TV 4k from the previous generation. It's generally fine but sometimes, I'll load YouTubeTV and it's all blocky.... then it has issues with Plex from a Synology device because it can't natively play H265 that was used at 1080p.... or it had an issue with the audio... and yes that's likely a Plex issue but I don't have this issue with nVidia Shield. I just don't see any compelling reason to upgrade here unless it can do Plex better... whether that's an issue on Plex or the capabilities of ATV. However, I could just get an old Mac Mini and be perfectly fine.
