not for the first time recently, I wonder if some of the macrumors articles are generated by AI, and this is one of them.

its a list of 10 reasons to wait for the 18 pro, and the first reason 'to wait for the 18 pro' is the design will be the same as the 17 pro....

its like when they have articles like '10 features expected on.....' and at least one of the list wont be a feature.

A burgundy finish would mark the first time the Pro and Pro Max models have been offered in any shade of red, apart from the lighter (PRODUCT)RED used on earlier devices.
This reads weirdly to me, since product red iPhones were produced up until 2022. Not only earlier than Pro and Pro Max but alongside. Apart also makes it sound like there has been a red shade for P/PM that “doesn’t count”, almost converse to the prior statement.

A red iPhone X would’ve sold super well, I remember customers who admired the red 8/8+ but were interested in buying X, disliked basic colors. I was working at an AASP, authorized reseller at the time.

Make a Jet Black version just like the apple Watch series 10 and will be a easy buy!
Funny how we finally get a matching finish for the iPhone 7, and the watch can’t even pair with it.

Thicker chassi? Soon back to carrying around a brick. iPhone Air is getting more and more interesting.
I keep feeling tempted to go from my 16+ to an Air, but I’m curious about an Air 2. Then I realize a juxtaposition of big AW Ultra and super thin iPhone.

Stop making new color a feature! Who cares about the color when you put on a phone case anyway!

You’d be surprised how many customers buy based mostly on color, even with an opaque case. It’s emotional, as iPhones have surpassed tools in being lifestyle objects.

When Apple has very little to offer, they resort to colors. It’s a brilliant strategy. Knowing their buyers well they promote and appeal to the narcissistic tendencies. Those who love to show off their possessions. It’s the same reason they promote looking down on Android.

My primary is an iPhone 16 Pro Max, I also bought an iPhone Air.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max meets my needs at work as I require all its capabilities. The Air is a good phone, just different. While I accept its shortcomings I bought it for the experience.

Going forward it will be interesting to see what Apple does or doesn’t do with it.

I went from annual upgrades to every or every other year, 13PM > 15P > 16+. I’m more avoidant about mid cycle purchases. I got a crack in the back glass this week, first (accidental) break I’ve had since 2016, so I’m debating AC+ replacement trade in to an Air. With 16+ I realized I don’t actually care about AOD or ProMotion that much, and while I miss telephoto, I’m not a photographer by any stretch. I think stereo speakers are what I’d miss most on Air.

Most underwhelming 'upgrade' since the 16 Pro Max. Just a good old 'S' upgrade. iPhone 19 Pro Max here I come

Still on my 14 Pro on 18.7.3
I have a Verizon promo for a new phone but I was pretty underwhelmed with the 17 demos at the store.

I’ll probably upgrade because it’s the last year to get the max 1100 credit for the 14 Pro. Otherwise I’d just wait for the 18.

But thats how underwhelming the 17 is.

11th Reason: Because if you haven't needed to upgrade to a 17 Pro in the first 5 months it's been out, you might as well wait 7 more for this year's phones. Still hoping a 20th anniversary model will be worth the wait, in the meantime I have no reason to upgrade from my 13 Pro.

I want a foldable iPhone. It looks like we’ll have to wait for Samsung to innovate and create a creaseless foldable screen for Apple to tout the next big thing.

I find it amazing that Steve and Ive could innovate more in 2 years than Apple has during Tim Cook’s 10+ year tenure.

as I breeze into retirement, I'm stretching my iApple product cycle more and more ... my IP15PM will probably get replaced by the IP20PM sometime mid-cycle in late 2021 (as refurbished) ... I may even down-spec into the non Pro lineup ... no more state of the art for this old chap

Yesterday there was an article on the front page about the 18 Pro being “underwhelming”. lol

That's why I posted a response there, with everything you see written today.

That was Gurman at his finest. It's NOT an 'S' year as Gurman claims. There are a number of upgrades in the 18 Pro.

I'd be tempted to trade up if they offered black. 18 Pros are looking like the 12 Pro to 13 Pro level update.

I am very hesitant using Apple's C-series modems, Qualcomm modems are regarded as the best in the industry and knowing that Apple's 5G modem technology comes out of their purchase of Intel's modem business.. which Intel modems were trash to begin with I worry about sticking them into a phone such as the iPhone 18 series.. I'd hope that the C2 series would include the mmWave 5G technology since the C1 didn't include that.
