Yep - No worries though. Everyone will eventually switch either at .4 or at v27.Requires iOS 26? They just threw 1/4 of their user base and those who refuse to upgrade from iOS 18 under the bus. 😵
I'm not sure that current technology allows a small, low-energy tracker with GPS connectivity. They should make a AirTag Pro with true GPS 24/7 tracking in space grey
I've got two Border Terriers and they'd be utterly useless for tracking them. Very high prey drive and when that kicks in and they tear off after wildlife in the middle of a forest, no way you're tracking them with an Airtag when the population around you is 95% rabbit and none of them have an iPhone to mesh the signal everywhere. One of mine hoofed off for an hour or so after deer, no way we'd have found him without a real tracker.I remain mildly curious why Apple continues to call this out, since there's nothing as far as I can tell that would pose any risk to a pet that's greater than if it weren't attached to their collar. People put tags and bells on their pet collars all the time, how is a similar-sized AirTag that emits a minuscule amount of radiation any different?
Correct. People are silly.I'm not sure that current technology allows a small, low-energy tracker with GPS connectivity.
This is why Apple says this tech is not designed for keeping track of animals.I've got two Border Terriers and they'd be utterly useless for tracking them. Tractiv is what I have on them - not cheap by any stretch, but very much what _should_ be used on pets.
3-4 weeks battery life on the Tractiv dog trackers, they're about the size of a couple of AA batteries... battery life drops if you enable full tracking (GPS and mobile) and should be recharged regularly if so. Just not possible to have something with that tech inside at the size of the Airtags and have run more than a few days (if that) on battery.I'm not sure that current technology allows a small, low-energy tracker with GPS connectivity.
I've seen people with the same breed who have Airtags on theirs... I do wonder why they even bother. This is why Apple says this tech is not designed for keeping track of animals.
Would help if they wander off in a neighborhood/urban setting. A cheap extra insurance at finding them in that case. Or if someone else finds them and needs to identify the owner.I've seen people with the same breed who have Airtags on theirs... I do wonder why they even bother.
hey if the apple watch can have gps why not this ..I'm not sure that current technology allows a small, low-energy tracker with GPS connectivity.
And how often do you need to charge an Apple Watch? Please use that goo between your ears.hey if the apple watch can have gps why not this ..
it would be thicker with solid state batteryAnd how often do you need to charge an Apple Watch? Please use that goo between your ears.
Ok so now it’s (much) bigger and needs to be charged every 3 days. We still talking about an AirTag? I don’t think you understand the use case. That said, you -can- buy a small GPS tracker from other companies, it’s just not the same thing.it would be thicker with solid state battery
But what is that range? 10 feet, 20 feet, 150 yds? Guess will know when it comes out and people test. Was hoping Apple would make it smaller and skinnier too.AppleInsider says 50% further range, MR is saying 1.5 (150%) further. I think MR has their math (or words) wrong. ie. 1.5x further would be 250m, assuming the original AirTag was 100m as an example.
Not how it works. Other people’s devices do not need to be on 26 to see the Bluetooth broadcast used for reporting seeing your AirTag. The client side behavior doesn’t change.I ordered 4 AirTags2.0 for my upcoming flight. BUT suddenly I realized that most of the people wont upgrade to 26.2.1 and it be mostly useless next couple weeks or may be month.
Better battery life is tough given how long it already lasts on a single cr2032.So, no improvement at all i would say.
Better range is only for Precision finding.
i'd like to see better battery life and better range overall (with Bluetooth 6.0+)
Holy smokes, is THAT why those batteries never worked? I always thought it was the coating itself and not printed dots. I've been using some generic brand from Amazon, which are fine, but don't carry the battery life that Energizers do...I noticed that energizer put the printed bitter dots in a different place so I'm not having to scrub them off with alcohol for an hour before I put them in
