I do not like either of the 26.x OSes. Thus I have no plans to upgrade, possibly ever, as I'll be moving away from Apple entirely.

True. Where I live and practice, most are lost in woods. But yes, if pets are lost in a urban environment, an AirTag could be sufficient. I would recommend a microchip as relatively cheap and doesn't require anything once registered with the national database; as many pets lose their collars when escaped/lost.
UK: all dogs (and cats) chipped before they hit 20 weeks of age as per this law. It actually helped the owners of a litter brother of one of my dogs find him after he escaped when he didn't have a collar on at home... still relies on owners updating info with the chip registrar though!

Keep the collars on our two and have the ring fenced zone around the house, so I'm alerted if they break for freedom... they'd smash the windows in on the first floor if they could, to get to the cat opposite us that taunts them.

This is a friend's dog. They're a very prey-driven little breed.

Do you know what “looks” means?
yes. and when 'looks' is used with 'exactly', it means its the same.

And if you want more proof that they look, and are, exactly the same, look no further than the Airtag accessories.

If they were a different size you'd see distinct products for v1 and v2, but from the looks of it despite the new Airtags being available, they are not selling different sized accessories.

Apple mentions it too.
Do you know what -same form factor- means?

None of that was in the article, which you implored me to re-read. Schmuck.

You really are emblematic of the very very worst of Internet culture.

I wish they would have created a truly waterproof solution by sealing the whole thing and making it rechargable with either a wireless charger or a discrete connection to charge it with a USB cord. Also if they could keep the exact same form factor while also adding a spot for a lanyard that would have been cool but I suppose someone has to help out 3rd party venders with AirTag holders (I like my AirTag holders tbh lol)

But you could achieve a much better waterproof rating if it were completely sealed and relied on wireless charging is my main point.
You: It should be waterproof.
Me: It is waterproof.
You: But it should be more waterproof.

So, exactly how many IP67 AirTags have you lost to water damage so far?

It's not like a bluetooth tracker actually works particularly well under water, so it's not like you go diving with them. And can't really track anything that's gone deep anyway.

Source to Apple is linked in the article, I don't know what to tell you.

You're welcome?
