It requires attention to unlock. You can't force someone to stare at the camera just by force.

For example, you can unlock your girlfriends iPhone7
[doublepost=1511444360][/doublepost]There is more: you can unlock your GF's iPhone 7 while she is asleep, but you can't do that with iPhone X

That's pretty silly.
Hope none of us has to deal with that type of situation but you think someone can make you put your finger on the touch sensor but they cannot make you look towards your iphone to unlock it?
And most people turn the require attention feature off for the iphone anyway.

Source?

You guys really have to stop posting stuff as fact when you're just talking. How could you POSSIBLY know that?

What source? Many people saying they disable that feature and their phone unlocks easier and faster even when wearing glasses or other parts of their face obstructed. Even Apple suggests turning it off makes it easier to unlock with less false positives.
Do I need to prove to you the exact ratio with proven studies and polls to make a point that its an option that many turn off to make their user experience and unlocks easier?
Where's your source that they dont?

I didn't make the claim...I think it's unknowable.

I wear glasses about half the time. Transitions lenses that are sometimes dark. Progressive lenses. Attention is turned on. I’ve had absolutely no problem with or without my glasses, with my hand covering part of my face, face partially obstructed by blanket in bed, etc. Unless someone has mirrored glasses there is little reason to disable attention detection.

I know of two people who own iPhone X (including me). Both of us keep attention detection on. Therefore I declare that nobody disables it.

This whole conversation is somewhat silly. People who are really worried about whether it’s easier to be forced to touch or forced to stare at the phone - people who think that difference is going to somehow be important in their life - should just use a strong passcode and turn off biometrics.

Your strong passcode is useless once you entered it in the field of view of a good security camera (any mid-high price range camera made in 2015+)

Yes. If I have touch ID, 3-4 police officers can unlock my phone in less than 1 minute. There will be no evidence that I didn't unlocked it for them willingly.

If I have Face ID, it will require a lot more time, a lot more effort, and there will be marks left by torture which can be used as an evidence, so anything they'll get from the phone can't be used in court.

Face ID is more secure than Touch ID.
