I still remember the first time when I touched the original iPhone. It's simply "practically magic".

I remember buying the first iPhone as a grey market import in Thailand for around $1,000. I took it to the deepest darkest part of Laos where I was living and was the first person to have one there. When you showed it to the locals they really did think it was magic.

The chief of the island didn't know what internet was. I explained it to him in many ways and then it dawned on me... show him a site with boobs. After that he understood the power of the net. lol

Great memories. Once the touch screen novelty wore off the original really didn't do all that much. For sure it was a cool iPod and good web browser. For me the real magic began a bit later with the app store.

The apps were released slowly that now we take them for granted. However if you had to use an original iPhone out of the box today you would pull your hair out using rich web apps.

Not criticizing anything just my take on it is the app store is the real reason the iPhone is what it is. Anyway I am stating the obvious.

Hadn't watched that video in ages.

I miss Steve. I remember when my dad said to me have I ever seen him on stage, I said nope. Then I watched a few keynote speeches and was amazed at the way he could conduct an audience. Something that a lot of people try to imitate and still fall short of. Apple is by no means the same company it was when he was in charge, would it have been better if he was still alive? We don't know. Is it a better company now? Well thats debatable (depending on how you view Apple!) but we still have great products. I was skeptical about the original iPhone (staunch Nokia user), it was the iPhone 4 I bought as my first iPhone (I had an iPod Touch 2nd Gen, and before that an iPod Photo 4th Gen as my first Apple products) and the styling and functionality was amazing. Made me change from Android (HTC Desire) to the Apple Ecosystem.

Just waiting for the next big breakthrough whatever that may be. Tim isn't Steve. So I doubt the next big thing will come from Apple. In a way the likes of Amazon (Bezos) and Elon Musk seem to be pushing the boundaries forward in terms of every day life. I mean who would have thought you could order something and have it in a couple of hours (Prime Now). That still amazes me!

And they are so full of themselves and incapable of managing their product pipeline that they can't be ars'ed to announce the next iteration on the same day 10 years later.........because the difference between a game-changing innovation (then) and 'thinner' (now) would make them look even greater fools.

Wow you are a very angry person who makes no sense at all.

Truly the one device I couldn't imagine my life without. Still the best smartphone by far.

I used cellphones since 1996, but it all now seems to have happened in another lifetime.

This is true. If I had to make a choice and could only keep one device I own it is the iPhone for sure.

Absolutly loved my iphone 1, even loved my iphone 4 more, like my iphone 5s but hate current IOS, dont care at all for iphone 7 - looking for somewhere else for my next phone now, but have no clue where to go..

I miss Steve and Scott.

I think out of the whole group Scott was probably the closest in management and leadership style to Jobs: razor sharp focused demanding bastard that got the impossible done. I miss them too.

All: Just a moment, Tim. We're updating our FaceBook status. There are 45 million following us. So here it is...ehh... "in meeting, don't disturb."
Tim: WHAT !? Do you imply I was disturbing you ? Ye iPhone got 10 today !!
All: Don't be silly, Tim. Can't be your fault if our status hadn't been correctly set.
Tim: OK, then. Let me check what your current status is on FaceBook.

All: Ahem...ehh sorry Tim. You need to have friends for that...and at least 15 seconds of battery time.
Tim: O man, these 10 years have brought us so much richdom, joy and souvereignty
No wonder there's so little left in the pipeline...

Come again??

I didn't upgrade because there was no significant difference between my 6 and 7. Most of the things they added are gimmicks which I do not care.

And that too. The only significant update to the camera was on the 7+ but it's way too big for me to be able to use as my daily driver. So I didn't really have much choice there. I hope Apple stops doing that.

I actually lost it.

They've been going backwards since the 4s.

That's a bit too harsh. I'd say way too many minor refinements since the 6. But I hope they're just introducing concepts and technologies that are going to be used properly in the 2018 device. Fingers crossed

"An iPod, a phone, and an Internet communicator. An iPod, a phone … Are you getting it?

*crowd erupts*

These are not three separate devices, this is one device, and we are calling it iPhone.

Today, today Apple is going to reinvent the phone."

That part always gives me goosebumps man. Damn, I miss Steve

This. That moment was amazing.
