Amusing but pointless. The big difference is that they weren't stuck to their newspapers every waking moment.

(Or, for that matter, the newspapers, printed on cheap paper instead of rare earth minerals subject to energy intensive processes, occasionally featured content other than pictures of your cousin's sandwich, with pieces from the leading thinkers not being unheard of.)

Mannnnn it seems like YESTERDAY. Jeez.

Such a historic moment. I'm 25 years old and that was one of the best technology reveals I've ever seen to this day. Game changer in every sense of the phrase.
I remember thinking when it was announced that I need to figure out a way to raise $600 and convince my wife to switch to AT&T (From Verizon)...ended missing out on the original iPhone and got the iPhone 3G.

Aside from needing to replace yet another lost headphone adaptor, I really like my iPhone 7. It boils down to Apple designing the SoC. The power/performance is tuned much better than in the high end Android devices I have owned.

Your reply is fascinating. You would be an interesting subject study in psychological and mental health research

Some people just live for negativity. It must be strange walking around inside those heads. Enjoying depression?

I still have my original iPhone but I doubt it works now. I may have to buy a 30 pin DONGLE (!!!) and try charging it up :D

I miss Steve and Scott.

Only ones left from this picture is phil, jony, eddy. I can live with phil and jony.

Apple ought to bring Woz in. Ironically, Woz being a nuts & bolts man (vs Jobs being the big picture guy), has reversed over the years as he takes more and more interest in emerging technologies, to the point that, if he rejoined Apple in any way today, he'd be the big picture visionary, surrounded by specialists who can't see past their shoes.

*would insert picture of smiling Woz, but after 10 years, iOS still can't copy an image location to paste in.

One of the most exciting days ever... too bad Apple stopped introducing products in separate events right around CES... I loved how Apple kept stealing the show and was not even there. The good old days.

I remember looking at the iPhone 1 and just thinking its kinda cool and all but it's big, overpriced and lacks lots of features...

A lot of people have forgotten that it was pretty much a tech demo at launch that was missing a lot of important features competing smartphones had at the time. 3G, Microsoft Exchange support, and installable applications were pretty stunning omissions.

That's because they only served one purpose - to display news. Smartphones do many thousands of things including live news, social media, web browsing, gaming, music, video entertainment and personal communication in general.

Pre-internet/pre-smartphones (I grew up in the 80s/90s) I would spend my free time doing most of the above but on different mediums anyway. Heck I could spend hours chatting on a regular landline phone without even thinking about it. The only difference now is you can do it all on one device.

Just curious... from looking at the history of your posts, it appears you're only on MacRumors to complain about Apple. Are you just trolling? Looking for attention? What is it that brings you here to speak nothing but negative things?

I think there are a number of Apple competitors that pay people to astro-turf this forum (why else would all these Android supporters be here?). Especially the folks that talk about price for the iPhone since new Galaxy S's (or Pixels or whatever) are the same price.

As can be seen on that 1st page of this subject, roughly the 1st 2/3rds of comments don't make sense given this topic here - unless they were working for a competitor. JMHO....

Woz is a lovable dinosaur that hasn't worked on any product since his universal remote control in the 80s. Hardware engineering has changed in massive ways and it's not clear what he'd be able to contribute to the field today.

“The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.”
Socrates said that. He died in 399BCE.

It's true. Every generation thinks the next one is going to hell in a handbasket.

The difference is, this time it's actually true :p

Why not come with a new and interesting complaint. Also Steve worked in technology, he'd have seen what you see and been happy with the result.

Ironically, Jobs did not let his own kids use the iPad when it first came out. He also forbade the use of any technology at the dinner table.

He was like a drug dealer who pushed to everyone else, but protected his own children from the very products he sold.

There's a lesson somewhere in there for other parents.

I'm in the same boat! Annoying I can use my nice headphones without an adapter, or going out and buying a brand new Bluetooth version.

I'm hoping for refresh of the SE. An upgraded camera, internals, 128GB options and the same design. I want to go back to a smaller simpler phone that just works...

Some people still use 3.5mm headphones because they are much better then the garbage that Apple includes in the box.

The post states you CAN'T play music without an adapter. I can't tell you the last time I had to use an adapter to play music with any iPhone I have owned. And as for the 3.5mm.... haven't used that in the last 3 years. All the cars I've owned are older than 2001. And I still don't need an adapter to play music in them.
