Probably Motorola understood that the tablet's market is taken by Apple, so they decided to get the other segment of market where Apple is not going to compete.

They are just trying to gain media attention. It seems that their Super Bowl Ad was nothing in comparison to the little lord of the Sith.

Even they try to make it a hip/exclusive type of tablet, who is going to spend that amount just to have a new version out in 6 months...

The lifecycle of this mobile platforms is going to doom them.
Even in a corporate environment you have to stick to the same old device for 1 or 3 years...even more

There is no way that they will keep it at this price, or it will be the biggest failure in motorola's history.
However to those who have been looking for a drop in price for the iPad, I guess you're out of luck.

May I suggest that's not going to be the actual price. It's just a price to hold one for people who wish to get one instantly they are launched.

Either way is too expensive for an entry level. It's just $30 cheaper than the higher-end iPad. No WiFi only, and goes on Verizon contract, so I supposed is CDMA only; that is a bold move when most carriers in the world use GSM. What market are they targeting really?

I had no interest in the base model iPad and I paid $729 for the one I ended up with.

This thread shows me how a lot of you guys can suspend disbelief to help the cause, and how little most of the users in this forum actually know about consumer electronics.
