The 11" is useless, except for maybe journalists needing something compact to take notes with. It's not even a good web surfing machine due to it's odd screen size. If I needed something ultra small I would just as soon get a Hackintosh for 300 bucks.

Utter rubbish and non-sense. I use mine all the time at work for everything from web browsing (the screen is perfectly fine and I actually prefer the 16x9 format) to network device management (Cisco routers, switches, etc.) to network vulnerability scans using Nessus and a load of other InfoSec tools.

If the 11" doesn't work for you... That is YOU. It works great for me and I'm guessing 1000s of others. ;)

Agree:)

I got the 11" and have no regrets. If I wanted a 13" machine, I would have gotten the MBP, and then probably just moved up to a 15" MBP. For my needs, this is the best computer I've ever owned, and while it's not as powerful as the 13", it has been able to do everything I need it to do without a single problem.

The footprint size is what really moved me away from the 13", as even though it's lighter and thinner, it's taking up just about the same space as the 13" MBP. The 11" is so small I can and do take it everywhere without even noticing it's in my bag. That's why I got it, and for me, it works beautifully. :)

i went with the 13. after working with netbooks, i wanted more screen real estate. the 11 is very cool, but it just depends on YOUR needs. i didn't want to wait for the new mbp's and i wanted more battery, etc.

both are great machines.

I have the older 13" Air, and if I were to upgrade to one of the newer ones, I'd still go for the 13". The vertical resolution on the 11" is too small for my taste, and I actually like the more full-sized feel of the 13". That said, I'm going to be sticking with my 2009 13" for as long as possible :)

For me, it seems as if the 13" is in some sort of limbo. As others have said, if I decided to get the 13" MBA, I woulda just bought the 13" MBP, and as of now with the intel HD graphics...well. I know the benchmarks show its only a little slower than the 320M (even with the i5 beast), I've just had an overall bad experience with Intel (and nvidia) cards for that matter. I woulda just picked up a 15", but as of now I don't need anywhere the amount of power that the 15" is capable of, plus I'm in college so 11" it is.

Love the form factor as well.

11" for the looks!

13" for the performance options.

Very well said, personally I went with the 13" coz of the higher resolution screen coz at any given time I have 3-5 windows open and the higher res helps a lot.

I actually think the MBP 13" is in limbo more than the MBA 13. I just replaced my late 2009 MPB 13" with the MBA 13" Ultimate, and the MBA is as fast or faster with everything that I run, and it has better resolution. To get this in such a lightweight package is great for me, since I have to carry my laptop back and forth to work everyday, and it feels nearly weightless on my lap when I'm on the couch.

I think you're wrong about 13" MBA being in limbo. It has a hi res display not available on the 13" MBP. It offers the same workspace as the 15" MBP. In addition, for normal use it absolutely flies with SSD. People keep wanting to say but it has C2D, but the CPU isn't the bottleneck in today's computers the drive and drive controller are. So Apple put a super fast SSD in it standard making it faster for normal users than one would think or expect. In addition the software further takes advantages of the NAND Flash by using instant on and super standby times. To me the 13" MBA is the ultimate Mac ever. It is more Pro than the 13" MBP.

The unobtainable goal of every 13" MBA, is to be purchased by, and go home with Scottsdale:D:apple::apple::apple:

Nice one Dave. I definitely praise the 13"MBA more than most and use it like it's the only tech device I need. If I were an MBA, I would want to go home with me too.

Take care, friend.

i assumed the 11 would lead the poll by a larger margin, i guess i was wrong.

I strongly considered the 11.6 inch MBA with the standard 2 gigs of RAM and an upgrade to the 128 gig SSD. I discovered that for $100 more, I could get a 13 inch MBA with an SD card slot, more battery life, and a slightly faster processor. To me, that was a good deal, even though I would lose some of the portability.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Having a 27" iMac and a 11" macbook air...ive grown favor of 16:9. I'm not sure what it is but 16:10 screens seem too square to me now that almost everything is 16:9. This might seem kinda funny but when I see that 90% of windows computers now supporting 16:9 I cant help but think Apple will soon adopt this for there other macbooks (including the 13" mba).

Having said that...i am considering exchanging my new ultimate 11" mba for a 13" mba..I just got to get around this silly aspect ratio issue I have.

I would have bought the 11 but needed the 256GB and faster processor

I have both.

If I had to let one go it would be the 11".

Reason: Screen size.

11" is a little small for long hours of work. Stubby 11:9 screens means excessive scrolling, imo.

13" is needed to get any real work done efficiently, it has the screen real estate of the 15"!

11 has less storage, less battery life, and a slower processor but seems to get alot of attention in reviews and forums.

13" for me.

I bought a maxxed out 13" MBA as I wanted it for a primary notebook. I've used smaller screen netbooks and a 12.1" notbook (yes, I know the 11" ISN''T a netbook) but the 13" display is just right for me - the best compromise between portability and size. Also the 4gig of RAM and 256Gb flash storage option were a big bonus.

The MBA absolutely flies. My portable needs are pretty much standard stuff (MS Office, Remote Desktop, a bit of design work, iTunes for iphone backup and syncing, web browsing, and a few games. All of these it jumps up and down on.

So I agree with Scottsdale that the biggest bottleneck in most systems is the disk subsystem and Apple's embedded flash storage and rewritten OS modules allow the Air to fly along and appear more responsive than any other notebook I've used, ever!

Something interesting if you install Windozzzzzz, it's still quick but you really see the difference in how inefficiently it's coded compared to OS X. But we knew that anyway!

Concur...I LOVE the 16:9 display...16:10 displays look old and out of date to me...my 27" ACD is 16:9 as well and I LOVE it! :D
