Hey everyone,
Please read this entire post before replying, thank you. 2011 iMacs ONLY.
I think it would be great to have a reference for all 2011 iMac temperatures (in celsius) and fan speeds, so I've created this thread.
Can you post both your idle and/or load temperatures (both is preferable) for your 2011 iMac (in celsius). To get the information use the iStat Nano widget for Dashboard which you can get for free here: iStat Nano
In iStat Nano, get the temperatures from the “Temps” option and the fan speeds from the “Fans” option. You don’t need anything else. You can change the temperature to display in celsius if it isn't already by clicking the “i” at the top right. Example image here.
You can get your hard drive information (i.e: 500GB Hitatchi (HDS7222020ALA330)) from System Profiler in the “Serial-ATA” tab. You want the capacity and the model.
Please only use the format below for simplicity and clarity.
Format: (put quote tags around it) (these aren't real results btw):
Just copy and paste this placeholder below and fill in your details: (exactly as above please, if you don't know something, ask how to find out first, and then post with the correct details)
Definitions of Idle and Load (in this specific test): (quoted for easier reading)
Using a game over a stress test should result in only real world results, which is preferable.
Example games: Eve Online, WoW, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike: Source, Left 4 Dead 1 or 2, Portal, Portal 2, Torchlight. Games like Plants vs Zombies don’t count. Flash games don’t count. Please make sure to list the game you used.
Final words:
It's preferable to post idle and load temperatures at the same time in one post. So, please log either your idle or load temperatures (it doesn't matter which you do first) in a text document and save it to your desktop and then log the other one, and then post here in the above format. It doesn't matter if you say, do the idle test today, save that data in a text document, and then do the load test several days later. Just post both at the same time please.

Definitions of Idle and Load (in this specific test): (quoted for easier reading)
“Idle” is light use. For example: editing text documents, web browsing (no flash games or flash video (YouTube, etc.)), no movies, and nothing process intensive for either the CPU or GPU. Give your iMac at least one hour of rest after doing anything process intensive (for the CPU or GPU), i.e: flash video, games, handbrake. This should be enough time to return to normal operating temperatures.
“Load” is heavy use. These results should only be after having played an intensive computer game for at least half an hour (required to push both CPU and GPU). Results should be written out in TextEdit as quickly as possible after finishing (within a minute or so is ideal). Fan speeds first.
