So where is this thing? I've been following it since it's announcement early last month which implied that shipping to distribution channels was already underway.

The above link is from OWC. The shipping date was 12 days, then 10 days, now it's pending?

I've been holding off on upgrading my stock drive (and memory) that came with my new MBP in hopes of using this one.

Bought it from newegg last night.

$89.99 + $2.99 shipping - $10.00 ("NEWCUSTOMER10" promo code)= $82.99 w/ no tax...

Winning.

I also just bought one off Newegg. It's $92 shipped and in stock.

Holy crap. I'm blind and can't use Google properly. I swear I've been trying to hunt down suppliers for this thing and couldn't turn anything up. NewEgg is even better.

Thanks you two.

Edit: What kind of phillips screwdriver do I need to pop off the back of an Early 2011 MBP? Last time I did this was a 2008 macbook

A tiny one. PH 000 I believe. Home Depot has this great 23-piece Husky kit for $5 - it has everything you need for the MBP.

Damnit! No international shipping from NewEgg, that is even if my budget permitted. Would have loved a bigger drive in my super drive, mind the pun.

NewEgg should definitely start shipping internationally, they'd get a big boost in sales from people like you and I.

I'm interested in this drive but isn't 12 msec seek time and 8 mb cache considered low specs?

LOL. Because it looks too good to be true.

Since you reaffirmed these tests by chiming in here I take it back. Thanks for posting those results back in June. :)

Well it's the first drive with 500GB on one platter, so theoretically it should be the fastest 5400rpm hard drive available.

The Xbench result seems to confirm it.

Although I must say, I took the best result and posted that screenshot ;)
The average score would be slightly lower.

If the drives were shipped outside of North America they would be considered "gray market" products and service and support may be effected.

Where do you want it shipped to?

Several European retailers will ship to most locations. The drive is available on Ebay too.

Fair enough. :)

Mine should be in this week. I'll try and post some before and after benchmarks when I get around to it.

1 TB drive....finally !

Happy with my 750GB atm but will definitely be on the look out for availability here in Denmark

Just installed yesterday along with a memory upgrade. Respectable performance for 5400RPM.

Here is the old 320gb stock drive:

If you are a European customer, there are other better options available for you guys. Canadians have Tiger Direct as an option.

I'm in Australia, cheapest price so far for this drive I can find is the $119 from OWC + shipping.

Forgot about this thread, I'm an Aussie too. The apart from a few smaller local websites, OWC seems to be the way to go at the moment.
