If your going to bed with 20% on the 11 Pro then yes the SE will run out of charge before then.

What’s making you consider changing?

Another option is a portable power bank but that’s not really ideal as another accessory to carry around daily.

Of course it will. It’s a smaller battery and if you’re mainly looking at the battery usage, that should be a easy decision for you. Stay with the 11 Pro

why do you want to switch? If it’s financially motivated then that’s fine, you’ll get the same core iOS experience and the new SE is buttery smooth and very fast (we have a few in our family now)

but if battery is a big factor it’s a significant downgrade. You’re going from the biggest leap Apple has made in battery generation to generation, to one that has solid standby time but its otherwise the same as the iPhone 8

keep in mind, the iPhone X was rated to last up to 2 hours longer than the iPhone 7, which lasts the same as the iPhone 8 and the new SE per Apple’s official marketing.
The XS was rated by Apple to have 0.5 hours better battery than theX and effectively 2.5 hours better than the iPhone 8 (same as SE)

and The 11 Pro is a 4 hour improvement from that

you’re giving up on 6.5 hours extra battery. That’s a significant amount.

these are apples official numbers. Not mine.

My own subjective use reflects that as well - the new SE is solid battery life but it’s not an all day battery phone. The 11 Pro comfortably gets your a day and a half. It lasts longer than the XS Max did.

On the 11 Pro I get 50% used daily. SE is 100%. So it looks like you won’t make it. SE has a terrible battery life. It feels like going back to the iPhone 7 battery life.

As someone who has switched as of a week ago - I can safely say the battery life noticeably shorter.
After being at work all day or even on the weekends where I'd sit on the couch and surf on my iPhone, I used to have around 50% left come dinner time with my 11 Pro, now it's more like 20% by dinner time, and definitely dead by bedtime if not charged. Similar to you I'd be 20-30% left by bed time on the 11 Pro.
Not a deal breaker for me but it's a noticeable difference.
That being said, very glad to be back on Touch ID given I have to wear a mask all day at work.

Thank you All. I was drawn by the smaller size and touch id, but i love the battery in the 11 pro. I dont have access to a charger on work so the 11 pro is perfect. I dont care watch the Phone cost so i stay with My 11 pro. Thank you again

The difference is massive

Why would you want to switch from pro to SE?

I feel the exact way. I really wanted to go back to a home button but don’t think I can handle the battery life on SE.

Smaller size?
The 11 pro is just a bit bigger but without 50% wasted space on the front.

SE is a cheap old iPhone with A13 for people that cant afford expensive iphones. That’s about it.

It’s not about not being able to afford. It is about not needing to spend a lot of money for a large phone size you don’t want and a lot of features you don’t really need.

I can afford anything Apple sells. That doesn’t mean I should buy a $1200 iPhone, just to feel important to strangers on a forum or those I pass on the street.

You should stop making pronouncements about people you don’t know.

I didn’t say anything about anyone.
Entry level smartphones are made for people that won’t buy flagships.
If you don’t need new features and you don’t want to spend money, you won’t buy the SE for 500€. You can keep your iPhone 8 for another 2 years or buy it used for like 200€.

You said the following...

“SE is a cheap old iPhone with A13 for people that cant afford expensive iphones. That’s about it.“

You made a pronouncement about a lot of people you know nothing about, just like I said you did. Your own words prove it.

Don’t do that. It makes you look bad and shows you have no substance to your retort.

I know exactly what I said. Cheap phones are made for people that can’t afford the expensive ones.
Isn’t that a fact? Is that bad?
I gave you an example before cause there’s no need to stretch it.

You really can’t compare. The SE has a smaller battery. If you are a heavy phone user, the SE may not get you through the day without charging. If you are a light phone user who doesn’t need all the bells and whistles of the 11, the SE may suit you fine.
Agreed. In hearing plenty of people saying the battery isn't too bad considering its size. Granted it's not 11 or 11 pro levels it certainly is having a good go of it!

^Not this at all. Thank you for you insight, or should I say short-sight. I currently have a Pro Max, and like said above can afford any phone in Apple's current lineup. HOWEVER, many people, myself included, like the feel in of a smaller device. Therefore, I see myself shelfing my Pro Max in favor of the new SE as my everyday carry phone. To infer that the new model is for people that "can't afford" expensive phones is completely wrong. But don't just take my word for it, the sales numbers so far seem to be confirming it's a successful phone.

IKR?
I can afford a bugatti chiron too, but I’m going to buy the new Corolla just cause.

Anyway, I spent hours defending the new SE on other forums cause it’s a good device even if it looks like it came from 2014. But facts are facts.
As for the size, sure, it’s gonna be so small and comfortable compared to let’s say an iPhone 11 Pro.
Such small, much size, wow.

Lol, my previous boss would actually do that if he can get away with it but there's like a BMW or Lexus minimum in Beverly Hills so he drove a Jag.

He donated $200-300K to charity every year as tax write off so he can certainly afford a better car.

That image isn’t taking into consideration thickness and weight increase. And that extra size all over does change the whole feel of the device.

...From someone with an 11 Pro and a new SE.

Had to choose between a new iPhone XS and a 2020 SE and tested both phones for a week side by side (price for the XS was a bit higher, but I would have paid it. That wasn‘t an issue). And I choose the SE. Why? Mainly because of size and weight. On pictures both models seem to be very close to each other size-wise, but at least in my testing I found the SE much easier and more comfortable to work with, because it is more compact. Plus the weight difference was huge (and the iPhone 11 Pro is even heavier than the XS)

Yes depends on what you do. I got it for the Touch ID so I can use it easier while at work and at stores to use AP. I use my 11PM in bed at home. Otherwise I will use the laptop or TV. I think my lowest might have been like 35% on the SE. Definitely died quickly though when I was doing my usual new phone test with flashlight, full brightness, GPS, and a movie over cellular. That same test took a much longer time to kill my 11PM. I may try a concurrent test soon to see how much battery is left in 11PM once SE dies.

In my experience, my Xʀ on iOS 12 is getting twice the battery life when compared to every 4.7-inch device. It’s 8 hours of light use with Wi-Fi vs 16 on my Xʀ, it’s 6-7 hours of heavier, LTE use on a 4.7-inch when compared to 12-13 hours on my Xʀ. The 11 Pro is similar to the Xʀ, so it should be around twice the battery life, give or take a couple of hours depending on usage.

Definitely a big drop in battery from my 11, but it’s what I expected. For me, wanting something smaller and lighter after years of big phones, it was worth the trade off, but I have access to a charger most of the time, and I do find it charges really quickly, especially using my iPad charger.

I put it on the charger 45 minutes ago around 10%, and right now it’s at 81%.
