I set up a Genius Bar appt. tomorrow. Just wondering if they can do a diagnostic check on this thing...not optimistic if they can/will do anything.

It's now down to 98% Health (Another 1% drop in about 10, 12 days) , 29 cycles total. I did have a total drain overnight - 100% total battery loss from 12:57am to around 7:30am past Tues. morning) Left if off the charger overnight. After looking at this battery chart, I THOUGHT I may have triggered my camera by accident, but after looking at it again it showed my app use of the camera was just 3 minutes total on Tues.

Wed-Friday morning, overnight drain of 0%-3%. This morning after leaving it off the charger, another baffling drain of 29%. Idle and no apps running in the background. After a hard reboot, it gained 7% battery life.

Something is off.

Apparently doing this isn’t good for the battery. 🤔😂 seems like it’s working for you though. 🤷‍♂️😂
I did the same with my XR and it was still at 100% as well. But I don’t use my phone much during the day while I’m at work so I’m sure that helps.

Reports 100% in both the settings under battery and Coconut Battery.

I was just hazarding a guess. Because we know a battery must degrade regardless of how well it is cared for, then surely there must be a fault with the reporting hardware or software? I don't suppose you've complained to Apple that your battery is too good? :p It might be interesting to know what they say.

After taking it to the Apple Store, they did run a diagnostic check.

The 100% drain last Monday was from the Camera AUDIO running in the background, but the Camera app itself was not on. So...um, what the-!? 😮Well, that's a first!

Other than that insanely bizarre occurrence which "cannot be explained, except possible software issue - everything appears normal."

A full erase and start from scratch was recommended. Which I will be doing.

But if the battery health continues to drop, call Apple Care/Support. Love the Apple store, but everything is kinda rushed, the appointments since this insipid Covid. I get it..Ah well.

I'm legit confused. my iPhone 12 Pro (Barely 4 months old) is saying its down to 97%. I rarely even get the battery down to 60% a day.

I don't get it either, but I'm tired of worrying about it. I checked mine after weeks for the heck of it..smh.

If this battery is truly flawed and I do believe it is to some degree - from the fast "health" decline, still some erratic drain after a complete erase and restart, & just 35 cycles. - then it's covered..I'll get it replaced. At least this is what Apple told me.

* I updated that Coconut Battery app which now shows the correct Manufacture date.

12 Pro here - put in service late November. 100% battery health. I put it on the charger every night with a 5w charger that came with my iPhone 11 Pro. Usually I end the day with about 70% left on a charge, so I am relatively low use during the day. Charge it overnight, every night..... optimized charging is on and working.

The battery on my XS was down to 97% after a month. It remained at 97% however for the rest of the year.

This is the first phone / device that I've ever manually tried to do the 40-80%. My phone spends most of its time between 60-85%. It is not used heavily. I am very lucky to have received a battery that is quite a bit over design capacity and not showing any wear. Apple health showing 100% of course.

Some batteries come several hundred mAh over design capacity and can retain 100% a year after. I have watched all my iPhones since the 6+ and - most have come at least 100mAh over design capacity. I had one come 96% design capacity from the factory. Isidor Buchmann's book - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NJZCGF - reports that lithium batteries can actually grow in capacity during the first 100 cycles or so if treated well. Then, of course, they start degrading after. But depending on how you treat the battery, one can cycle a long time and see little degradation.
