for 12 dollars I can use a bootable esata card for a mac pro. it works plus and play with no drivers. right now I mounted it it booted and I have the sunday nite football game on as I type this. with proper setup you can have a really good system dirt cheap. okay I booted the mac pro with a 2 bay sans digital towerstor it has a raid0 on chip. so I now have a very fast boot drive with esata speed. I need to test but i am thinking this 12 dollar pcie card along with this unit.

http://www.thermaltakestore.com/blacx-st0005u-refurbished-pro0005.html cost gives you an external bootable esata solution for 36 bucks add this

for 100 more and you have an external esata ssd setup with many raid choices bootable! grand total 136 plus drives. leaving the 4 internal bays for big hdds and another boot drive or big hdd in the optical bay. more tests to come.

okay here is xbench with a raid0 1200gb vel raptor. eye tv running and here is xbench alone. so it is pretty quick with a pair of vel raptors. I have some ssds i will test more on mon.
