I always thought that the goal of more power effcient 2nm chips was to have a smaller battery and a slimmer device that has the same battery life as the previous generation. Change my mind

Yes, this is how they were able to introduce the iPhone Air. Right?

Then they have other models (Pro and Pro Max) where the customer just wants more of everything. Not everyone wants a slim sexy phone where the battery dies before dinner

From the other article today it sounds like extra ~$100 on 12 GB memory, an extra ~$50 on 256 GB storage and whatever the additional cost is for the new camera. And that's before Apple's margin (currently 47% apparently). I think $1300 base iPhone Pro price is most likely, with Apple taking a slight margin hit, but $1400 wouldn't surprise me.

That's a very common price for people living outside of the U.S.

So think what their prices will rise to!

Not a compelling set of features to be fair. Probably still has 12GB too which might be fine now but will likely result in some gimping in a couple of years when 16 is the base due to ever hungrier local AI.

The weight gain is most unwelcome too.

The smarter move is a 17 Pro if the discount is reasonable. You won't miss much if anything. Or wait and see what the regular 18 offers.

They will probably stop selling 17 pro like they usually do when next one comes out to force people into buying latest phone if they want a pro one…

iPhone 15 Pro Max here. Was thinking in upgrading, but it all depends on pricing. I may have to stretch it out a bit more.

Same here, I mean 15 pro max is still working well, it’s just the overheating that’s a bit annoying outdoors…

Why not? Laptops cost the same price and I use my laptop 95% less than my iPhone.

I’m talking about the Pro line— just because the ultra thin Air exists doesn’t mean you should keep making the Pro devices thicker. That’s silly.
