Assuming that 21 months and 121 charges are accurate, then it's not likely Apple will be replacing your battery. Those readings indicate that you're rarely using the battery and discharging your battery once a week over two years will likely result in a bad battery. I'm no expert in how battery works and some will argue with what I said doesn't matter and the battery is defective but constantly connecting to power will result in a shorter battery vs. using the battery occasionally. I don't think the 300 charge/80 percent will apply here.

I am beginning to accept the notion that this is all my fault, not USING the battery, it went from here☝ to there☟ in just one day, and now ✠ RIP :apple: battery, and please someone ✈ soon.
Thank you all :D

There is a lot of people waving and complaining here:

I've had my computer for one year and four months, and my battery only holds a charge for about an hour before shutting off. I used to get 8 hours of battery life, but recently it's been awful and even shuts down when it reaches 25% charge. I called Apple and they said it was just from normal usage, so it wasn't covered. Seeing all of these reviews saying the same thing disappoints me because I thought that Apple was a company that took pride in making good products worth standing by.
A battery should last longer than a year, Apple. It's a shame that a leading technological company can't make a battery that works and lasts."

And that is it, we can just write about it and enjoy ∞ of life

while not a recent model, I checked the oldest macbook I have and it claims 564 cycles and 94%. I still get 2.5-3 hrs of the original 4. I usually have lots of things rockin with the screen all the way up.

522 cycles and 95% battery health here. I need to calibrate it at some point soon. 2(ish) year old MacBook, has its birthday in December.
EDIT: Whoops, meant to attach a file!

Battery health went up

After 11 cycles, 10 of which I calibrated, the battery health went up, and for now, it is constantly above 80%
So people, use your batteries regularly!
Here is the coconut again.
I don't know why coconut isn't chronological!?

If you have Applecare, Apple will replace your macbook battery up to 300 charge cycles. I've seen macbook batteries die after less than 40 charge cycles and live longer than 900, it's a crap shoot. If no warranty exists, go to greedbay and buy a generic battery from an ebay seller who has lots of feedback for less than $40.

My record is somewhere around 725 cycles on a battery lol :D It was still holding a pretty good charge too when apple recalled it.

Apple will replace your macbook battery up to 300 charge cycles.
Apple only replaces batteries if they are defective, indicated by failure to retain at least 80% of the original capacity up to 300 cycles (removable) or 1000 cycles (built-in). They won't replace batteries that show 80% or better health.

Yes, we're talking about defective batteries like the OP. Thanks for the clarification.

Just found battery update 1.3 on alu macbook!?

Just now realized that my CE Macbook (5,1) 2.0 ghz runs 1.3 battery update (made for Macbook PRO!)
Why is this I am confused
Can somebody enlighten me what is the right version of battery update that I have to download and install!
I was considering replacing 1.3 with 1.4, but my battery info is nothing like> Batteries with this information in the Battery Information section need this update:
A device name "ASMB016" or "ASMB013" in the serial number
A Pack Lot Code is 0002
A battery firmware version of 0110

Help please

Much obliged

Hi all,

I am just wondering about my battery in my 2010 Macbook (6.1). I have had it for almost 8 months now and in the beginning I did not use it a lot. Last month I checked it with 14 cycles and the battery health was 98% (according to Coconut). I charged it a couple of times and and last week I calibrated it according to the description mentioned earlier in this thread. Now, after 21 cycles the health is down to 91%. Is this normal or should I contact Apple?

It's normal. You should use your battery more often, to keep its health from declining faster.

GGJ, you are right!
Your advice helped me a lot :)
+ I managed with 10+ calibrations in 15 days to revive my battery.
Now I am just confused why I have 1.3 battery update (written for macbook PRO!)

I've had 3 batteries in 3 years with my non-unibody MBP. The 2nd one only lasted about 6 months. This is why I'm not exactly thrilled with Apple's choice to go with internal batteries on the current laptops. Seems like my older Apple laptops had better batteries than my newer ones.

Same here. Daughter's 15" mpb from 2006 is on it's 3rd battery. The second battery lasted only a little over a year... and it wasn't abused.

You'll shorten your battery life by calibrating so frequently. You should only calibrate once every month or two.

How is her MBP being used? Is is plugged in most of the time?
