"We’ve independently heard that Apple has plans to begin selling the next-generation iPhone on Friday, October 7th; the date first reported by TiPB. According to our sources, Apple has been weighing between launching the new iPhone on October 7th or October 14th, but with the product’s latest stages of pre-mass-production currently moving along nicely, Apple is presently shooting towards a launch on the 7th. On top of this, unlike with the iPad 2, Apple plans to offer pre-orders for the new iPhone."

Should be an exciting few weeks leading up to the official announcement. Can't wait to actually see the thing.

Is that a legit pic of the iphone 5 manufacturing in that article? Wondering if that bezel tells us anything.

Here's the best line: "The date could and likely will change again, but we feel it is necessary to report the company’s current plan."

That's what I was wondering. The screen area on the parts look a bit larger and there's something different about the home button...

It is a legit pecture of the iPhone 5 Manufacturing according to the article. See how the caption reads "notice the elongated gesture home button" or something along those lines.

If it's legit, the screen won't be edge to edge, although it'll be pretty damn close.

That is code for, "as always we really don't know but this is as plausible as Area 51."

I don't believe the dates, should be sooner than that BUT very interesting pic w/ elongated home button!

Still wondering if iOS 5 will be out in September. I'm thinking a GM release before the announcement of the iPhone 5.

^ that is likely. Unless you see the GM release before the date you can purchase the phones you can bet iOS 5 isn't included. I can't see them releasing iOS 5 after the iPhone 5 though, tbh.

Yeah, agreed. Just hoping that they don't release it a day or two before the iPhone 5 is released like last year with iOS 4 because this rumour has an October launch. I can't wait that long for iOS 5 :p

I'm seriously starting to believe that after the gizmodo/iPhone 4 debacle, apple has said "Alright. Fine. We'll play your game. Here's 50 rumors to sift through. Now figure out which ones are correct."

If you're a developer then I can understand. I am not so I wait.

I normally get my iphones from a network provider but this year i will buy from apples online store. Can anyone explain the process. For example. Will i be able to place a pre order on the apple store and get delivery of the phone on the launch date? Thanks.

Yup. You order from the Apple online store then it will be shipped to you. Sometimes it'll come a day or two before the actual launch day, but most of the time it comes on launch day or maybe a day or two after depending on your location.

IMHO what I posted seems more realistic: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/13188010/

Yes, I believe so. I believe this is how it will work: iOS 5 beta 6 will come out either on the 17th or 18th as predicted by 9to5mac, and then the Apple invites will go out for an event the first week of September, that's where they'll announce the iPhone 5 and the iOS 5 GM is available, with launch of both to occur September 13th.
