Yup. You order from the Apple online store then it will be shipped to you. Sometimes it'll come a day or two before the actual launch day, but most of the time it comes on launch day or maybe a day or two after depending on your location.

Thanks. Seems my best bet. Cant wit to stay up and wait for pre orders to go live, only for the site to crash like the vodafone one did last year for the iphone 4.

If iOS5 isn't on the phone when it ships that's going to put a pretty big dent in Jobs' whole cut the cord to your computer pitch.

Great point. There were only 4 betas for iOS 4 so we have to be nearing GM.

IMHO what I posted seems more realistic: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/13188010/

I agree with you for the most part. The one part I don't agree with is the Tuesday launch. My bet is that the ipod touch 5 and ios 5 will release on the 13th with the iphone being released on the 16th. (cant see ipod touch 5 being released without ios 5 either) Last year ios 4 released the 21st of june with the iphone 4 releasing the 24th. The 13th to the 16th will be the same timeframe.
Just my two cents.

With all of Gurman's hush hush business on his Twitter account, he better be right about this.

It is a legit pecture of the iPhone 5 Manufacturing according to the article. See how the caption reads "notice the elongated gesture home button" or something along those lines.

I really want to know if that picture is real or not.
But hmm, if it is real, then why aren't all the other rumor/mainstream sites publishing it? And why did 9to5Mac just include that picture randomly in an article?

I'm sure some of the smarties on here would be able to figure out the screen size from this "leaked" picture... Come on guys! ;)

So, when to expect an announcement?

Do pre-orders open immediately after the announcement or after a week or two?

Invites will probably go out toward the end of August/beginning of September. Pre-orders normally open after the announcement, I just can't remember the length of time from when the announcement is over. (meaning days or weeks)

I think last year it was just over a week. June 15th for preorders but i dont exactly remember when WWDC was, June 6-7?

it's a shame that all these iPhone knock offs have deluded its design. it's still pretty, but it isn't the eye-gripping gorgeousness that it once was. i hope the new design, along with it's new features, drives me to go get an iPhone at last.

So people who preorder on apples website are playing full price for the iPhone?

What would be my best bet to get/preorder an iPhone 5 if I'm looking to get it at a discounted price by signing a new contract?

Really hard to do a comparison, but here's the best I could come up with (iPhone 4 overlayed):

I'm wondering the same thing. If that's really the iPhone 5 then you'd think the headline would be centered around the first shots of the phone. As you pointed out, it also seems that all the other websites would pick up on it as well.

Where is that picture from?

EDIT: Never mind, source link.
I think we'll find that Apple is really stepping up to the plate here and giving us a 4" screen OR that assembly shot 9to5mac used isn't even of the iPhone 5...

Edit: After scaling the overlay a bit better, it looks like it could indeed be the iPhone 5 with a 4" screen.

Nice job with the scaling. That one looks much better.

I really hope this pic is legit and that we're really getting a 4in screen.

I think the pic is legit. Just look at the home button hole. It's bigger and so is the screen area.

Here's the best line: "The date could and likely will change again, but we feel it is necessary to report the company’s current plan."

Yep the dates have been changing on MacRumors for weeks now, it's all rumours, rumours like us on Macrumors they simply don't know.:confused:
