Hey guys
I recently installed the EFI update along with Thunderbolt software update and now the Mission control's animations are kinda sluggish. Before the update, the animation was quite smooth but now it's a little laggy.
Thoughts ?
Also is there a way I can remove the updates ?

BTW,I've MBA 13" i5/256GB

Odd, I have the exact same model. The update hasn't change anything for that matter. I know I would notice since I use mission control all the time.

Have you restarted another time after you updated the EFI??

Yep

The strange thing is that I only get laggy animations when going to mission control from my desktop.
In full screen apps/widgets,it acts normal.

So,is there a way to remove the installed updates ? I really can't tolerate the laggy animations :(

Sorry if it's a noob question because I'm new to mac.
Will re-installing lion remove any data/apps installed ?

Normally no, but it's a good idea to have a backup. Maybe try reinstalling the firmware update first. You can download it from Apple's support site.

Thanks ! :) Will give it a try

Re-installing Lion won't solve the problem, EFI is like a PC BIOS, hardcoded into the machine, not part of the OS

hmm,and could that be causing this lag ?
I mean, well before installing these 2 updates, there were no lags but it's kinda weird if these updates are the causes because none of them were graphic related.

Reinstalling OS X won't undo an EFI update. EFI is firmware on the machine's motherboard and there isn't a way to roll it back.

However, I suspect the EFI update had nothing to do with the laggy UI effects. While I've got no proof I suppose, I've got an 11" i7 MBA, a 13" i7 MBA (wife's, actually), and a 2.5GHz i5 Mac mini, all of which have had their EFI's flashed in the last 24 hrs without any such effects. And if no one else is reporting anything similar, I suspect it's something else.

Now... that something else, what ever it may be, might well be cured by reinstalling OS X. But don't think that reinstalling will rewrite the EFI flash. It won't.

OK,so I reinstalled the thunderbolt update(It didn't let me to re-install the EFI update however) and also reset the SMC but no changes :(
I'll wait for 10.7.2 because i google'd my problem and it seems there are many users experiencing lag/slowdown with mission control

I did both the firmware and Thunderbolt update on my MBA, and it caused no lag with Mission Control.

I have a 2011 11", i5, 128gb.

This exact same thing has just happened to me! I was just coming to post a thread on this before I saw this topic. I can't deal with the choppy Mission Control animation and there must be a way to fix this. Any ideas anyone? I have a 2011 i7 13" Macbook Air if it helps.

Good to see I'm not alone here

2011 13" Air i5

I've just updated my 2011 13" Air to the latest Thuderbolt firmware and I have no animation issues whatsoever. I hope you guys find a solution to your problem :).

i updated when it came out and haven't had any issues..

sometimes the animations get choppy...but thats when the computer is bogged down doing something ( extremely rare...and it happened before the efi upgrade too)..

not sure what the problem could be...

i first had a i7 13..but mission control and scrolling were choppy on that..so i have the i5 and for some reason,,its perfectly smooth..and cooler

For me, ever since the 10.7.1 update, EVERYTHING has been laggy and slow. It's now to the point I can basically have one app open at a time. Just yesterday, I tried to use a lightweight photo editing app to edit ONE 4MB jpg while I also had a FireFox window open, and it got so hung up I had to reboot. Not sure WTF is going on but I'm about at my wit's end.

Just thought I'd chime in to say that I've been having the same problem. My MBA is only about two days old, so this is quite disappointing.

Has anyone else noticed their MBA is slow (comparatively) to wake from sleep? It doesn't take long for the display to come back, but there's always a moment or two where my cursor won't move.
