I know everyone says that Apple usually sends them out a week in advance, so does that mean invites should go out tomorrow, September 27?

You answered your own question...it's not like anyone here knows any concrete info.

not to be rude Anthony, but you answered your own question. we will have to wait and see.

I had this funny thought that there's probably some guy high up in Apple that frequents these forums, and knows some of the information we're dying to know. He probably just chuckles evilly to himself every time we try to find out more.

Here is a look back at past Apple Events. Recently, the average has been to send out invites 7 days prior, but Apple can go and has gone as low as just 3 days notice.

iPad 2
Invite Feb 23rd - Event Mar 2nd = 7 days
(Yerba Buana Center for the Arts)

Back to the Mac
Invite Oct 13 - Event Oct 20th = 7 Days
(On Campus)

2010 Fall iPod Event
Invite Aug 25th - Event Sept 1st = 7 Days
(Yerba Buana Center for the Arts)

iOS 4.0 Preview
Invite Apr 5th - Event Apr 8th = 3 Days
(On Campus)

iPad Event
Invite Jan 18th - Event Jan 27th = 9 Days
(Yerba Buana Center for the Arts)

2009 Fall iPod Event
Invite Aug 31st - Event Sept 9th = 9 Days
(Yerba Buana Center for the Arts)

iOS 3.0 Preview
Invite March 12th - Event Mar 17th = 5 Days
(On Campus)

2008 Notebook Event
Invite Oct 9th - Event Oct 14th = 5 Days
(On Campus)

2008 Fall iPod Event
Invite Sept 2nd - Event Sept 9th = 7 Days
(Yerba Buana Center for the Arts)

If you notice when the Event is on Campus, the time frame of when the invitations go out is less than if the Event were to be off-site.

how do we know if people recieve the invites? is there anyway they can keep it from us?

metzy.. what? your question makes no sense. you are asking questions we cannot answer. just wait.

Invites have never been under NDA, so anyone who does get an invite has nothing holding them back from sharing. It also feels like The Loop tends to be the first site to make their invite public, so I would say keep an eye out on their website for news.

Who knows. But I would expect it to be tomorrow, especially after seeing the different invite times in saving107's post.

All I know is that that newly opened IFC Hong Kong store will be going nuts on the day of the iPhone 5.

Im guessing because the event will be held on campus invites will go out 2-3 days before. Reason being, they don't have the set up the center they usually use. It takes them about 2-3 days to set it up before the event, therefore people would suspect something to happen. By doing it on campus they can keep it as quiet as possible.

That's pretty inconsiderate for Journalists who have to book flights.

I pretty much agree with this. If the event really is next Tuesday, I expect invites to go out on this Wednesday or Thursday, Friday at the latest, that way the press has enough time to travel over the weekend and stuff.

Not even Apple knows when they're going to announce the iPhone. They decided to keep it from themselves, incase one of them got tempted to tell someone. It's a free for all.

If nothing happens this week it will be time to move on to something new. I say invites go out on Wednesday.
