Apple's Japanese Site Outs iPhone 4S with October 14th Launch

Apple has prematurely updated its Japanese retail store sites, disclosing that the iPhone 4S will launch in that country at 8:00 AM on October 14th.

The site appears to also reveal an updated iPod nano, although images are not yet live. The description of the iPod nano includes references to a new user interface, improvements to fitness functions, and a new clock face. Pricing also appears to begin at 10,800 yen, down from the current 13,800 yen.

It's not like anyone was expecting an iPhone 5 anyway.

ED: Neither image has a home button reflection.

Well, they seemed to think they impressed with the 3Gs and the numbers kinda back it up.. So why not try again?

16 months and this is all we get.......very disapointing.....at least I won't have to take a day off work and try for 13 hours to get a pre order....:rolleyes:
 
Due to this hype, I can't wait for all the rage to happen, after only revealing 4s. IF and if apple were to release 5, then thats one hellova mind trick to conceal evidences. So far the only evidence of the new design are the leaked cases.
 
Sucks I'm in the 'off' cycles with both my MBP and iPhone -- I always end up with the spec bumped version of previous models. Oh well...

Edit: I'm hoping for Assistant to be amazing or I'll be pretty disappointed. Yea we get a faster processor and all that, but I've kept my 3GS alive for the past 6 months hoping for a new phone and realize now I could have just had the 4.

Yes they can. It has updated features and iOS5 and the rumored voice assistant. That's the selling point. These updates will keep the iPhone 4S selling like hot cakes until next year.

We all are a bit blown away that we've been waiting this extra time for a simple 4S update. :rolleyes: I just can't believe ALL we get is an updated phone after this extra delay. :( :mad:

Because when they did that in 2009 there were few android phones available, the best having 3.2" screen with cpu around 528mhz if I'm remembering correctly. In other words competition was still behind.

And what is new about that? Maybe to Apple. Sorry your late to that club, but Windows 7.5 already has it. Of course Apple will act like they discovered it, just like the dedicated camera button.
 
Wow. They took 16 months (probably longer) to come up with a new iPhone and all we get is the 4S. They could have at least called it iPhone 5, which would be more logical... 4S doesn't make any sense.

The iPhone + iCloud + iOS 5 ecosystem has also been an integral piece of work, which was always going to be perfected before going public after the MobileMe debacle.

I actually cannot wait for the 4S if it's the only device, because these forums should suddenly become a lot better, quieter, and more sensible if the people who continually, for weeks on end, threatened to leave actually do so.
