I'm interested to know when members of the Macrumors community first owned Apple products. Please participate in the above poll. Note I have specified hardware product. This is because I want to exclude software or internet products that can be used by people who don't have Apple hardware (e.g. iTunes, mobileme). I'd also like you to restrict this to products owned by you (or your partner/parent/other household member if you shared the device) rather than products owned by your employer or school/university.

You might also be interested in my other related polls:
If you could only have one Apple product, which one would it be?
What was the first Apple product you owned?

UPDATE: A few initial comments pertain to what constitutes ownership, particularly whilst growing up. So I decided to update this with my thoughts. I would say its fair to count a device bought by your parents for the household as a device you have owned, provided you made significant use of it and felt some degree of possessiveness over it (e.g. if you had been given just as much right to use it as your siblings you would speak of the device as "my device" or "our device"). By contrast, I would say you should not count a device that was primarily your sibling or parents device that you occasionally got to play with. Those are my thoughts, but its difficult to be explicit and cover all bases so you may need to make your own judgement call.

I first used an Apple computer at a friend's house, which I think was an Apple II or IIe. I forget. The oldest one I personally owned was a Performa. The oldest Mac laptop I've used was a blueberry clamshell iBook.

I've used them off and on for years, but bought my first Mac five years ago, though.

First product - White Macbook.

May, 2010 - self birthday present for 65th birthday. First computer ever.

Pitiful newbie!!! :D

First product - iMac Alu 24" Intel.

February, 2008 - just because it was time, and at 68 I was running out of time. Three PCs before that.

Pitiful oldbie!!! :p

My first was the IPad 1 in Feb this year I loved the Apple experience so much I got the two at launch, in July I bought my first IMac.
I have always had PC's from the first day they first came out and thought I would never change, thinking I would hate Apples way of doing things, how wrong I was, I wish I had converted sooner. Now I know I will never go back.:D

In 1985 I started going to print shops to rent time on a Mac. Didn't buy a computer until 1992 when I got a tremendous deal on a used Mac SE

27" iMac
iWork
Photoshop CS4
Applecare

The day before Christmas.

What's funny is that it wasn't even for Christmas. I just happened to be looking forward to buying it, and because of my work schedule at the time, decided to buy it the day before Christmas by coincidence.

I voted 1996-2000 because my parents bought an iMac for christmas in 1999. I didn't "own" it, but it was as if.

I bought my first Mac, the one I use as I'm typing, in 2009. Still going strong, altough I might go SSD+HDD and remove the DVD drive to get faster boot times and app loads.

2008 my first Macbook 4.1 my brother uses it now and it still works without any problems since day 1.

Well the computer (LC3) was from the mid 90s, but I got it in the early 2000s because my Dad upgraded to an iBook, so he gave me his old LC3 that he would have otherwise chucked out.

Enhanced Apple //e (with a whopping 128K of RAM!) in 1985, but even before that I had a Franklin Ace (Apple ][+ clone) since 1983.

I bought an apple iPod classic in 2005 because I wanted a music player. I didn't understand what all the hype was about, then I fell in love with the device. When it died I bought a Zune to replace it. It's hard drive crashed after 3 years. After that I used my Motorola Droid for music.

I used Windows machines for my whole life. Then a month or two after the iPad2 launched I purchased one. After a while I was only booting up my Microcrap machine to do things the iPad couldn't. Shortly there after I got fed up with Android, and have already sworn off Blackberry, Palm, and Windows Mobile (easily the worst of all of them). So I bought an iPhone 4.

Then my Windows 7 machine died. From what you may ask? The Service Pack 1 update... Microsofts own software killed it. Then I said screw it and bought a MBP, and another iPod Classic.

Haven't looked back since....

My family's first home computer was an Apple //c in about 1984. The computer, COLOR monitor, and Imagewriter II printer set my dad back around $5000 back then.

As a side note, I dusted off the Imagewriter many years later and plugged it into my first Mac, a Quadra 605. It still worked fine.
